Suggestions on where to purchase new master cylinder?

I would like to purchase a replacement master cylinder for a '50 Special Deluxe and would appreciate any suggestions on parts suplliers that anyone has used or would recommend.  Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

You should also check your local parts stores.  It probably won't be in stock, but you can talk to them face to face if you have a problem with it.

Hello Jeff,

 

I'm from the other side of Ohio. This subject has been discussed a lot in recent past. If you want to get a bunch of opinions I'd do a search in the top right corner of your screen with "Master Cylinder". It'll bring up all kinds of different threads. Are you going for the original master cylinder or the added safety of the dual master cylinder?

You could contact White Post Restorations and have it cleaned and resleeved, just a suggestion.  I had mine done there about 15 year ago or more, very pleased so far

I sent them my wheel cylinders also.....no more pitted, leaking cylinders! :)

according to my EIS brake catalog your would have a model E3241 the fits from 1946 to 54 Plymouth

Wagner uses the number FE 3241 same master cyclinder.

Andy Bernbaum's in Massachusetts seems to have reasonable prices and they usually ship the same day you call them. They have complete master cylinders or rebuild kits: http://www.oldmoparts.com/parts-service-brakes.aspx

 

I've ordered quite a few parts from them. They can be a bit taciturn when you first call, but they seem to warm up a bit once you've started the order.

Great suggestions from everyone...thank you!  Prices are fairly wide-ranging and the re-sleeve/restoration looks like a great option since I have ample time for the project - it's been a bit chilly and snowy here in the area (salted roads and ice) and I probably won't have it on the road for a few more months.

I just signed on to Parts Geek they have you new MC for $89.95

 

sign on to www.partsgeek.com    search under 1949-1950 Plymouth Deluxe Brake MAster Cyclinder - A1 Cardone 13-33241  the last 4 digits are the same 4 numbers that I get from my EIS and Wagner brake catalog

 Shipping is 8.95 for a total of 95.00

Me personally, I had my m/c & wheel cylinders re-sleeved in stainless steel.....costs more than new, but at least I still have my original MADE IN USA parts.....and I (or any future owner) will never have to worry about pitting. I had my wheel cylinders re-sleeved in s.s. here:http://www.brakeplace.com/ (very happy with the price & service). I had a local brake shop re-sleeve my m/c in s.s.

Sounds about the same price as Rock Auto, a lot better deal than Bernbaum and Roberts at this point..

Ed just read this old thread I wish I'd have known about this place three years ago when I put in new foreign built wheel cylinders and master cylinder. I should have re-sleeved the wheel cylinders and master cylinder that were in the car they would have lasted a lot longer.  I wonder if this inferior junk can be re-sleeved or do I need to find NOS parts to do it when the time comes?

I don't see why it couldnt be sleeved but are you telling me you didn't keep the cores :D
