HanksB3B Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) Anyone notice lately (about a week now) that without intent you are re-directed to other web sites (like rate zip) that have nothing to to with what you intended. It's not just pop-ups it's a whole other window. That's all I'll say, Hank Edited December 5, 2013 by HanksB3B Quote

Don Coatney Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Three times within the past 24 hours I recieved an e mail with offical looking FEDEX logo. This e-mail states that I am getting a delivery and gives a link for tracking. I am expecting several deliveries so I clicked on the link in the first e-mail. Bells and whistles went off as my AVAST virus protection detected a virus. I reported the e-mail as spam and deleted it. The next 2 e-mails from FEDEX went directly to my spam folder. Then I got to thinking how did FEDEX get my e-mail address. I did go to the FEDEX web site earlier this week before the first e-mail arrived and registered as my wife has a FEDEX account and does a lot of shipping. She has given me the title of Execuitive Vice President in charge of Logastics so I have been dealing with shipping for all of her wares. Part of the registration requires an e-mail address and I gave them my address. That is something I dont like to do but I figgured it was secure and I made sure to uncheck the box where they want to send promotions and news crap. But it seems that hackers have penetrated the FEDEX domain and harvested e-mail addereses. Beware! click here for Lisa's Laurels----> https://www.etsy.com/shop/LisasLaurels Quote
TodFitch Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 . . .But it seems that hackers have penetrated the FEDEX domain and harvested e-mail addereses. Beware! . . . Or hackers have gotten your email from somewhere else and are sending fake FedEx emails to everyone they have an email address for. I've received fake FedEx emails and I've never had an account with FedEx (most shipping for me is by UPS). I also get fake emails from banks I've never done business with. Quote
greg g Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 You should set up a distinct e mail account related only to the business activity. That way when you start getting spamed and fished at the new account you can track down where its coming from by knowing who has had acces to the business e mail. Congratulations on your promotion. Was this in recompense for the commandeering of your garage??? Quote
Young Ed Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Be careful with that one. There has been a virus of sorts going around that they disguise in a shipping email with a PDF attachment. If you open it they encrypt your my documents folder unless you pay them $$$ Quote
