Winters Not Here In Manitoba Yet

Recommended Posts

You Guys remember that massive thread I started about "Winter In Manitoba", about 6 years ago, it was in November, after a snow storm. It just snowballed from there, no pun intended.

We have had a few dustings of snow, 52 the other day, last week some temps down to 0 with a -10 windchill over 1 night, snowing yesterday, today about 48-50, windy but pleasant.

Had the truck out, actually took it out the other night fora gasoline and coffee run from Canada's infamous Tim Hortons.

A couple of pics, and yes she is Moon equipped...enjoy, add your updates about your local weather, and those who don't like the idea, can abstain.

were you able to look in your fargo parts lisiting to verify the part number that I posted about the tierod ends for your truck?

I was using the dodge section in the catalog and using the c3b without the preceeding f. Assuming that these shoul dbe the same frame an suspension.

We got a dusting on Monday. It started as a rain/snow mix, then turned to all snow, enough to start sticking to grassy surfaces and such. It stuck around for a couple of days in the shade. Supposed to be in the 50's this weekend with more rain.

Hi Rich, yes I did, and it appears to be the correct tie rod end. That is Moog part# , so I ordered them today.....if there not right, will send em back..

Hey Good Buddy, glad you aren't have real bad weather yet. Yah the truck is okay, gonna paint the box in spring, finish all mechanical, and then do up the interior. Maybe just, maybe, will look for some better donor body parts, like rear fenders, front nose section etc, and take her apart and redo it to perfection, when I retire, but cannot guarantee that......LOL

Fred,

Your truck is looking good.  We have had a dusting of snow a couple of times, yesterday the windchill was 15 degrees above, today in the low 50's with no wind and plenty of sunshine

Hey Merle, worst part of that slushy snow/sleet/frozen rain, is the roads are so dangerous, anyone from the south who has never experienced that has no idea, how nerve racking that can be.

Hey can the Packers play in the cold................LOL

Glad that I could provide you with the correct numbers.  That is why I have started to collect the old catalogs becasue the counter gys and some of the venders do not have the knowledge and or even the books to look up the parts.

Just trying to presever the information for future restorers.  Paper gets worn out but when you save to disk it is kept longer until they come up with a new solution but this will also change.

Let me know if these work on your truck?

We had our first snow Tuesday of this week, about an inch and a half.  Last couple of days have been sunny but chilly.  Today was a nice sunny day and about 55 degrees.  I vacuumed up the rest of the leaves, then gave the Plymouth its season end wash and dry, took it for a short ride to get some 2 stroke oil for my chain saw, then backed her in for her winter beauty nap.  Only put about 1000 miles on her this summer.  weather was lousy and we couldn't work in our usual long trip. Got my snow blower out, will tinker with getting it started and changing the oil tomorrow or Sunday.  So let snow.  Well it doesn't really have to.

Hey Greg, gotta get out my 41 YO John Deere snowblower too. Needs an oil change, and maybe time fora sparkplug too. She got used a lot late winter and early spring up here....

Some snow here but all gone now. Had my '63 Ford  Fairlane out today. Filled the tank, stabilized the gas, and put her away for the winter. More snow forecast for tomorrow but not a lot. We have had enough so there has been grit put on the roads so don't really like driving the cars much unless really nice out. Spring cannot come soon enough!

We've been having inclement weather here for some time: Sunny with highs in the mid-60s, lows in the mid-40s. Makes for lousy skiing in the mountains and isn't doing the reservoirs any good. Looks like we have a small chance for a break in this weather next week. Crossing my fingers and hoping they are right that we will get some precipitation.

I like the highway reports provided in Manitoba.

Go right on the computer and get closure/condition reports.

Looks like the Winnipeg area has found some shades of winter.

Link may or may not work.

California has an equivalent one at http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov

I think there must be a US wide database that all road departments contribute to as you can scroll out of California and see status elsewhere too. For example, it looks like slow going on I-70 over the continental divide west of Denver: http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/?z=10&ll=39.553,-105.9751

I have never before seen anything like this. A flowing river of ice.

Have you ever seen an ice tsunami?  It happened on the south side of Lac des Mille Lacs, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, on May 11, 2013!  It destroyed more than 20 houses in 15 minutes!  The ice looked like legs creeping up to residences.
