I dont think it is OT if we have a very loose interpretation of the forum mission statement:

P15-D24 Forum
All topics discussing flathead powered mopar cars from the late 30's to mid 50s. If it has a flathead you are at the right place!

It was built in the 40s, so it is period correct...built by Ma MoPar herself....powered by a flattie...and it has "cars" so I think it fits:)

Cool old article, BTW.

I believe they (I think there are 2 or3) were recently refurbished after languishing for quite some time.  I posted some pics about 2 years back.

Been there and done that. Twice this summer. One mile from my house.

Super cool! It's great to see it looking so good after so many years. Do you know if it's still got the flathead/Fluid Drive drivetrain? (Pun not intended)

Looks like they did a good restoration on this one, Greg. I really did the big Chrysler "Quality Seal".

I no speaka de General Motors. ;) I was a TOTAL Aero-Train freak when I was a kid and this looks like a great replica. Got any details on it?

All I know is this train was located in a city park in Wamego, Kansas the birthplace of Walter P Chrysler. His boyhood home is located in the town along with a small museum. The train may not be Chrysler built.

Thanx, Don. Cool shot of that D24 with the sign in the background.

They were upgraded in 2001. Seems I read somewhere they used a 318 or 360 engine (not sure).

Then, in 2001, Chrysler renewed its historic commitment, donating upgrades to the trains’ drivelines.  Modern, computerized emission-control engines now run on unleaded gasoline – about 11 gallons per day – and computer diagnostics make tune-ups easier.

Sure, that would make sense, but at least they're still "Powered by MoPaR".
