Young Ed Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 As you've probably already caught on to I took my 48 to S dakota. Didn't get to drive it back but still had a good time at the show. Spots were first come first serve so its kinda odd being at a car show parked next to a modern buick and a 2008 vette. Anyway here are some shots from the trip. Quote
Young Ed Posted August 27, 2012 Author Report Posted August 27, 2012 This one wasn't in the show. We saw it the last time we were there out working still and saw it on a different job site this trip. Nice to see them still out earning their keep after so many years. Quote
Young Ed Posted August 27, 2012 Author Report Posted August 27, 2012 The plymouth at a neat old gas station on the way to s dakota. Finally got a chance to stop for a picture with it. Quote
Young Ed Posted August 27, 2012 Author Report Posted August 27, 2012 And my sad view of the ride home. Not the part of the plymouth I'm used to seeing on road trips Baby Leo holding on for dear life while Grandpa towed the plymouth back home Quote
Jim Yergin Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Ed, Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. Sorry for how your trip ended. Jim Yergin Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 I like the ones that show up with bug splats on the fronts - driven... Quote
james curl Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 I can not imagine driving that 30 Ford thing with the steering arm that far out of faze with the rest of the suspension, how do you say bump steer? Do you suppose the builder ever studied a book on how suspension and steering work together, not as separate entities? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 A Pacer and a Pinto Wagon... not THAT's a car show. Quote
Young Ed Posted August 27, 2012 Author Report Posted August 27, 2012 Merle there was more WI representation in the form of a huge snap on display. They had 2 semi's one with their drag car and the OCC custom bike. The other had a bunch of displays where you could try tools. They were also giving stuff away but I didn't win anything. The one dealer said I could get full MSRP on my early 70s boxes as a trade in. Of course they didn't cost much back then Took this one pic in the semi of all the colors you can get a new box in. rumble48 Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Great pics, your pic of the pacer almost made it look kinda cool....... but did I miss it, what happened to your plymouth..... Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Is there a car in picture #2? Yea... I noticed the '66 Chrysler 300, but when I scan to the left I see something blue and the cars disappear. Hmm... Quote
Young Ed Posted August 27, 2012 Author Report Posted August 27, 2012 Great pics, your pic of the pacer almost made it look kinda cool.......but did I miss it, what happened to your plymouth..... I updated the other thread about that. We ended up renting a u haul trailer and the father in law hauled it home for us. Quote
Young Ed Posted August 27, 2012 Author Report Posted August 27, 2012 Is there a car in picture #2? Don I think that girl was young enough to be your great great granddaughter! They sure do grow them right in south dakota though Quote
old-idaho-iron Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 dig the "Waynes World" hat in the pacer!!! lol Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 I like the little Pinto wagon..not many folks liked these but they were not that bad given the car niche for which they were designed..I am a wagon fan as it is anyaway..at least there was a Pacer..sure better than seeing an Aztec....the little Gremlin I think is more sought after though..it gained its popularity about 30 years after the fact..how many AMC Sprints do you see today..seems the only ones are race cars.. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 panel truck..high top station wagon without windows...on the average a bit farther and fewer between compared to ohter body models..catches my eye long before a truck will Quote
Young Ed Posted August 27, 2012 Author Report Posted August 27, 2012 Love the panel truck! It didn't really show up in the picture but there was a really faded out coke logo on the side. Possibly faked but it still looked good. Also I thought I snapped a shot of the really nice white with red interior 59 sport fury but I seem to have missed it. Quote
Reg Evans Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Is there a car in picture #2? yes, the multi striped one on the left. Quote
Reg Evans Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Don I think that girl was young enough to be your great great granddaughter! They sure do grow them right in south dakota though Glad to hear that. We are heading to SD on the 31st and I was only going to gaze at Mt. Rushmore. Quote
Young Ed Posted August 27, 2012 Author Report Posted August 27, 2012 Reg you coming any further east? Quote
