55 Fargo Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 Had to put the ole Girl to work today, very warm and muggy out. Drove to a local gravel pit, 6 miles from home for a load of sand. I hand shoveled my own load on, not a whole lot, was a bit leary of 1 bad rear spring. Engine ran at 175, clutch still slippin a bit, but the truck sure road smooth with the sand load on. Some pics for you to enjoy. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 Awesome Fred. Get that clutch and springs addressed and you could have had them dump a few bobcat loads full in the back. It'll save your back for the unloading! Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 Cool pics, but I was drawn more to the old Volvo loader in the background. I work for a Volvo CE dealer and have seen pics of these older models. Basically Volvo merged with Michigan Tractor in '86 and got a foothold into the North America market. That model appears to be a late '70's - early '80's model, before the merger. They're pretty rare around these parts. Merle Quote
55 Fargo Posted June 28, 2012 Author Report Posted June 28, 2012 Went and got another load of sand today. Yesterday when I was getting the 1st load, the police and paramedic were on the scene on my departure. Foundout today the elder owner died at home that morning or overnight in his sleep, kinda strange ...... Quote

55 Fargo Posted June 29, 2012 Author Report Posted June 29, 2012 Ok I'll bite.......what's so strange about the sand man passing away in his sleep? Nuttin, He was elderly, His Son is running the gravel business now. Just thought it was odd, I go for gravel, nobody around, then go out to the pit, hear all the sirens, come back, and see cops, paramedics etc, then find out, old guy was dead, or died. Not what you expect when you go to a business, then find owner is dead.... Quote
HanksB3B Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 You didn't see anyone that looked like these guys around did you? Now that would have been worse than strange. Unfortunately, people do die. Hopefully the Gravel Pit in the sky is made of gold and he's in a better place may he R.I.P. Hank Quote

(only 4 feet of 1/2 in stock) but the rest of the stuff I did good I believe..its good when you can find remenant in 6+ yard sizes..will more than not get the headliner pre-sewn from the folks down the road in Hazelhurst, GA..WSL I think it is..some type of initials...it is miserable out there right now and this is no exaggeration..even my bud who wanted to come just to walk about and see what is going on in the shop decided to stay indoors..
