TheMoose Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Posted March 8, 2014 I'm thinking about pulling the front bumper & headlight surrounds & painting then all gloss black also but can't decide if that may be too much. My holdup right now is a dang light bulb!I have turn signals & want to use parking lights too but NAPA says there is no such thing as a 6V turn park bulb (1154) that is amber colored. Since the chrome is mostly gone off the reflectors I was gonna paint them bright white but If I can't find an amber bulb would painting the reflectors amber be acceptable? Quote

I found an amber lens and cut it down to fit behind the clear lens, in front of the bulb. Works great!! Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 I think painting the bumper and headlight doors to match would look nice. And I have amber LED's from SuperbrightLED.com behind the clear lenses of my B2. I know the B1/B2 park lamlps are different, but it's an option for you. Merle Quote
Jim Shepard Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 I know this is a little OT, but I notice your lift. Can you inform as to brand, cost, features, etc. It looks pretty compact. Is it portable? Quote
TheMoose Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Posted March 8, 2014 I know this is a little OT, but I notice your lift. Can you inform as to brand, cost, features, etc. It looks pretty compact. Is it portable? it's a Triumph lift, I got it from National Auto Tools. http://www.nationalautotools.com/vehicle-lifts/two-post-automotive-lifts/nt9-9000-lb-two-post-floor-plate-lift-free-shipping Mine is not portable but they do have them. It was $1500 shipping included, but I got the SEMA price. It's 9000# with a 76" lift My shop has a 12' ceiling & I can get my 03 Ram all the way up with clearance to the roof & I can walk under the truck without stooping. I'm getting a lot of use out of it! TodFitch Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 I've heard of people using transparent paint available at hobby shops to make clear light bulbs amber. Quote

I used a couple of cut down amber pill bottles. A dab of clear silicone holds them to the clear glass parking lens. Works great no special bulbs needed. Jeff Jeff Quote
TheMoose Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Posted March 8, 2014 Looks like lots of good solutions to be had, thanks all! Quote
pflaming Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 RE: head light rings or 'surrounds' as you call them. To my eye I would not paint them black. If you want to experiment cover them with electrician's tape. It's very inexpensive, does no harm and will be very obvious. From 20 feet the tape will look like paint. Quote
TheMoose Posted March 16, 2014 Author Report Posted March 16, 2014 Got my hub caps from Roberts, Now I know how the GF feels when I get her Jewelry! Quote
pflaming Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Now that IS a beautiful rim and hub cap also. Nice blend of the old with the new! Quote
TheMoose Posted March 16, 2014 Author Report Posted March 16, 2014 Now that IS a beautiful rim and hub cap also. Nice blend of the old with the new! The reverse just for the heck of it! Was wheel shopping & liked the artillery wheels & the place had an old original hub cap hanging on the wall. Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 A little Shinola to fill the cracks in the tires and you should be good to go. 1 Quote

HanksB3B Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) I can't wait to order mine. 33 years in the making the rears are going to be 16" and the fronts 15" (p.s.) because of the size difference they sure stack well vertically in storage and that's probably really going to pay off because there is a good chance I'll be riding on the black steel wheels and will probably have the original wheels on during spring and summer as there's some good casual and classy shows to enter here in California. Moose, How do they compare in manufacturing quality compared to OOS ones ? Let's see them om your truck Hank Edited March 17, 2014 by HanksB3B Quote
TheMoose Posted March 17, 2014 Author Report Posted March 17, 2014 The only Stock one I've seen was made of a heaver gauge metal but that's all I noticed. I haven't seen a NOS one but I can tell you the chrome on the reproduction is just beautiful! I need to get the stock wheels restored & or order the new wheels before they go on my truck, they don't fit the rally wheels on my truck. Quote
TheMoose Posted April 3, 2014 Author Report Posted April 3, 2014 And after some more fabrication I have completed the new grill. I need to repaint the grill medallion the same color as the hubcaps. 1 Quote
