Don Coatney Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 That is a pile of offical New York State Horse Ship. Picture of my wife on the tractor was taken behind the barn on the property I owned near Buffalo about 1991. Quote
addicted2dunes Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Anyways.... back to the original post..... I have one if it's the same as a '50 P20 arm. Quote
michael.warshaw Posted June 18, 2011 Author Report Posted June 18, 2011 Anyways.... back to the original post..... I have one if it's the same as a '50 P20 arm. not sure they might be. Quote
Andydodge Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Mike, I can help you with a RHD one......seriously tho it wouldn't be any good as it is reversed, however I would think that as 1940 to 1948 have the same suspension/chassis diamensions at the front then I'd think that the pitman arms should be identical 41-48 at least.......hope this helps.......andyd. Andydodge Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Mike, just did a quick check and theres a guy selling a 1940 Chrysler Pitman arm on US ebay now, $29.00 I think..........and its chromed.........andyd Quote
michael.warshaw Posted June 18, 2011 Author Report Posted June 18, 2011 i saw it but i m not sure if its the same. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 It seems to me they wouldn't be any different from one year to the next, would they? At least in the decade of the 40s? Quote
desoto1939 Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 To All and Mike: I checked in my Flat rate motors book. and 46-47 pitman arm part number 957621. nothing back will work because the numbers are different. I would think the 48 is the same but my book does not cover this year I also looked and the 46-47 dodge has a different pitman arm number so I think you need a specific plymouth part. During your travels urchase a Motors Flat Rate book. You will notice that it lists the major parts for your cars also. Great refernece item and also helps with cross referencing against other mopars. dezeldoc Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 An interchange book is better, shows witch parts will interchange from year and model to year and model. Quote

I would think the 48 is the same but my book does not cover this year... The 1936-48 master parts book shows part 957621 as used for all P15 years 46-48. Quote
TodFitch Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 The 1936-48 master parts book shows part 957621 as used for all P15 years 46-48. Turns out the later 1942 P14 also used that same part. I've updated my database at http://www.ply33.com/Parts/group19#19-27-2 to show usage for the "steering arm" a.k.a "pitman arm" Quote
Andydodge Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 I havn't got a parts or interchange book but I have a pair of eyes and all the 1940-48 pitman arms I've seen here in Oz look indentical, ie the same...........now o/k they are RHD but the rhd pitman arm is a mirror reverse of the US lhd one..........that chrome one is the same as what is used over here in oz except for the arms being reversed...........I'd bet at least 2cents that it would be the same as the P15 one........and with the current exchange rate that would be 3cents US.........lol........andyd Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 That pitman arm would be hard to bend Mike. Are you sure it's really bent? They look kinda bent up as stock from the factory. I drove over a 53 Dodge once with the dozer by accident-didn't even bend the pitman arm! Poor old Dodge. Quote
Andydodge Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 They are a "Y" shaped arm to accomodate the short & long tierods........one tierod, ie tierod end connects from above, one from below.........this is a standard feature 1940-48 at the very least.........where is your bent Mike?...........andyd Quote
michael.warshaw Posted June 19, 2011 Author Report Posted June 19, 2011 ii am not sure it ws hitting the oil for years so they see a bend in it, anyone got one for a p15? Quote
