White Spyder Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 When I first joined here some one told me that there was a group that did focus on '46-'48 Chrysler's but that I was welcome here and that the other group was a bit selective. It is a Yahoo group and you have to ask to join . It has been about 3 weeks now and I just heard back from them and was denied entry into the group. Guess me or my Windsor did not fit the bill. I think I'll enjoy being part of this group better anyway Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 face it, not everyone likes spyders ...shake the dust off your feet..of the forums I know..this is the most active of the others combined.. Quote
Tom Skinner Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 WS. Welcome! I think you will learn a good deal more here, so enjoy getting to know the p15-d24 crowd. We are a fine upstanding group of knowledgeable fellows. I have a 1948 Chrysler Royal and they have accepted me here and helped me out many times. Tom Huntersville, NC Quote
randroid Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Spyderman, The comic strip artist Al Capp first wrote "Lil' Abner" he was young and wanted the changes we all want when we're young, and wrote his comic strip with some not-so-subtle liberal political undertones, much like "Pogo" before him and "Doonesbury" after. When he retired he said he did so not because he was burned-out on the strip but rather because he'd gotten the changes he wanted and now didn't want anymore changes, and as a conservative didn't feel he could do justice to a liberal strip. I believe such an attitude is inherent in all of us as we age and thus it influences our lives if we allow it to. I try not to be susceptible to it more than makes me comfortable but I must admit that in my short life I've seen changes come that I felt were long overdue, and I wouldn't want to go back. I feel that attitude carries into all corners of everyone's life, be it attitude toward work or attitude toward play, and it sounds as though that group that wouldn't admit you likes things as they are within their closed little world and might fear you'd want to make a change. Or maybe they're a pack of horses patooties who want to play God. I'm glad you're here. -Randy Quote
Big_John Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 I joined there even though I have a 53 Chrysler. I asked a question about a driveshaft and got a few really dumb answers. In fact I started getting email from one guy that... well... I think he may have seen a picture of a driveshaft once.... So, you're not missing much. This is a pretty decent forum. It's not perfect, but none are. I wish there was something for 40's and 50's Chryslers out there, but I haven't found it. Honestly, if there was enough call for it, I'd start a forum for just those cars. I've done a couple before and while there's a bit of work involved, it's not all that bad to do. Quote
greg g Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Those chrysler guys can get so uppity. You'd think they all had Imperials or sumpton. Quote
jcmiller Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 I had the exact same experience. I wrote back asking why I was rejected and then got an email saying I was accepted. I thought they might have a glitch in their system. I've found that forum to be helpful although far less active than this one. The actual functionality of this forum is much more user-friendly too. Don Jordan Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 I am amazed at how snooty people can be about their cars. A while back I traded a 36 Chevy pick up for a 54 Packard Clipper. I wanted to join the Packard club (pre computers). I was snubbed because I had a Clipper and not a President. How silly is that? I am so pleased with the response I get here. I've got one Plymouth about 95% finished and I'm starting on another. While this group has a few grumpy old men most are just old. Welcome aboard. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Welcome, Jump on in. If you happen onto a thread or topic you don't like or find un-interesting, just skip on to another one. Just like real life, there are many personalities here and not all agree on all things. I've learned a lot about my old Plymouth and met some darn nice guys in person over time. Quote
1940plymouth Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Welcome aboard, this is a great forum Quote
Kevinb71 Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Hey hey I happen to be one of those snooty Chrysler guys. I just lower my standards when i come on here! Just JOKING!! Please no hate mail!! This has been the best source of information i have ever found. A ton of knowledge available behind the keyboards of this site. They have always welcomed me even without the "proper" auto in my collection. I happen to be a member of the other site you mentioned and i do get some info, but the format over there is very hard to work with. You will enjoy this site. PLEASE don't throw me out now. Quote
White Spyder Posted May 5, 2011 Author Report Posted May 5, 2011 Thanks all for the welcomes. From my first post here I got great help and suggestions. I belong to other boards for Opel's, Fiero's and MR2's and find this one very helpful. Now that I have a "real" classic, I hope to bee here for a long time. Quote
Mark D Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 Welcome aboard WS... Lot's of good people here and the knowledge base is incredible. I've only had my car since January and its amazing the number of things I've tackled myself with a little encouragement from this crowd. Best of luck to you. Post some pictures of your ride when you can. We'd all love to see it. Quote
49 Dodge Dude Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Welcome aboard, matey! I'm a relative newbie here, but it is by far and away the best forum for these type of cars, period. Ask just about any question, and you'll get an answer (it may not be the one you're looking for, though Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Yep what I like about this site is that it pretty much open to everything and if you want an answer most of the time you will get one back about your problem. People here seems to care about the next person and that great! Quote
ozzie1949 Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Everyone has been so helpful here even though I am in a Desoto. I don't think I would be hearing my engine run if it wasn't for this group. Quote
littlemo Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 Well, let's face it, some of us are NOT as old as we once were. I would accept the fact though that some of us are just as "Grumpy, Sneezy, Droopy, Doc:" Oh well, you get my drift !!! lol... Welcome to a great group of guys and gals!!! Cass, alias Littlemo ... adam_knox Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Welcome fellow Windsorer! One trick that comes in handy here is the search tool. If you search for Windsor you can come across some posts that relate specifically to your year. Hope to see ya' around a bit! (hopefully not with trouble problems though!) Quote

You can also try AACAs Chrysler board, lots of good info on there too.....Fred Quote
