Any updates on the glass install? I have been waiting patiently.

How's this? New all around. The backlight is an interesting and creative solution.

The backlight trick is that the glass guy ordered up a custom temper after cutting the glass. It is flexible enough to force into shape

with the garnish molding. After the adhesive sets and the glass ages a bit, the contour becomes fixed. Glass guy tells me that

Not rocket science. Anyone who is reasonably competent could do the install. If anyone is interested, I would be happy to

arrange purchase of the custom glass,...'bout $150.00 ea.

I was refering to the window clips. I'd like a picture of them. I was wondering what they looked like to disconnect the regulator from the glass.

Darren

Darren, I apologize for missing your question. I have since handed off the window hardware to Mitch aka alteredpilot. Maybe he could snap a pic,....eh Mitch. They are cup shaped, about the size of a nickle and with a section removed for snapping over the stud,...sorta like a "C" clip. And as stated, they are attached on the outside (sheet metal side) of the mechanism. Ya can't even see the damn things without a mirror. I used a hooked pick to finally "work" them off. Hope this helps.

Mine may have been replaced by a previous owner but they were looked like snap buttons you'd see on a pair of jeans or a leather jacket. I didn't know they existed until I had the whole window mechanism out on the driver's side. Needless to say the passenger side glass went in MUCH easier than the other. LOL.

did you use a kit to eliminate the vent glass ? resteration specialties has a kit, long channel to do this just wondering

Not familiar with the Restoration Specialties Kit. Mine was scratch built by the glass guy who used all U.S. made motors and hardware. He did the whole job, all six windows, so reasonable that I just decided to treat myself and have someone else do it.

Went to the Good Guys gig in Scottsdale over the weekend. Ran the Plymouth through the Ride-Tech free weigh-in

again. I decided to do it again because my car now has the hood and wheels installed. And, as they were not busy

and very accomodating they allowed me to weigh the car both with and without me being in the driver seat.

I doctored their printout with blue notations to show the diff. when I am aboard.

The total weight diff. pretty much reflects my weight, although I had on heavy shoes,

a heavy jacket and several beers in by pocket ;) The engine and trans are offset

.75" to the passenger side. The battery is beneath the driver seat and the tank

is pretty much centered. I was pleasantly surprised at the car's weight and balance.

Once you get your old Mopar goin, there's not much better then lookin at the world from the driver's seat.

In addition to the Good Guys visual overload, we stumbled upon a hot air balloon meet on the way home.

Although we were pushin the speed limit, the cop gave us the "thumbs up" :)

  • 2 months later...

I am really struggling with this new format. I don't think I'm stoopid but I sure feel like it. Took me forever to find this thread. Tried the search box for "I'm back" several times to no avail.

Anyway,....coupla things

I'm trying to find the young man from the LA area who took the vent window hardware. Please contact me. I have more pieces I want to hand off. I'm on a garage cleaning mission.

I'm also on to a new modification for the P-15 I plan to share and I have another project in the barn.

bill if you go to your profile page you can pull up all your entries by post or thread.

Thanks Greg.  This old guy always struggles with change,...not because I'm stubborn, just challenged to redirect the brain

Thanks for all the kind words about my dilema(s) with cars.  "I'm back" again,...again

The good news is that the wagon is gone.  However, in order to separate my self from that "trophy wife", I had to accept an

old sedan as a down payment.  Did not achieve my goal of reducing car count.  Oh well!  I am sick, huh!

The P-15 is officially off the market.  Whadda relief!  I've grown to like it more and more.  And I am particularly pleased with how it's turned out so far.  One of the next steps I'll explore is modifying the rear fender design.  An area that has alwasy bugged me on the P-15

Haha it is a sickness isn't it. What's with the tow truck? Neither the wagon or the new sedan look like they should have required it. So now what are you going to do with the sedan? And the 40 plymouth??

Drove the wagon to the Deuce guy's house.  Ramp truck was a practicle alternative to driving a 50mph car on the 70mph LA freeways for over an hour.

The Deuce gets resold.  Still trying to get the "count" down.  The '40 may go too, but not right away.  32 goes first then I gotta decide.

Bill.....what cheeses ya about the fender?

You've heard the term "fat fender".  To my eye the Plymouth rear is obese and compromises the overall appearance of the car.  I've got some ideas on addressing that issue.  Stay tuned ;)
