A few months back I ran across a '49 wayfarer convertible closed up in a shed the car was parked in the late 60's but had been in this shed for the last 20 years. After moving a few cars to make an opening for the truck & trailer to make it to the door; 6 guys worked the better part of a day to get this little Dodge out. I posted these pictures on a different forum and it was suggested I register on this forum due to it's wealth of knowledge.

The car appears to be pretty complete with only a little rust below the tail lights and in the lower quarters in front of the rear fenders. The original color appears to be a maroonish color. The hope is I can convince this old crusty looking engine to turn over and maybe fire.

Cool save. Is it a convertible, roll up side windows or roadster side curtains?

Also make sure you have a working parking brake or wheel chocks, as with fluid drive you don't have compression braking withthe engine off.

What are your plans???

The windows roll up. I don't really know what the long term plan is; in the short term I would like to make the car roadworthy again.

I had a 1950 convertible back in the 1970s.

They are a fairly simple car really.

The tan color looks like an original shade, but could be a repaint.

A maroon was offered far as I know, also.

Mine was dark green.

The top, as I recall is a manually operated one.

This just goes to show that these old MOPARs are still out there to be found. Good luck with the Dodge and yes, this is the best forum there is, welcome aboard and thanks for sharing your great find, keep us posted on your progress.

This 47 Plymouth is in the shed but is not for sale. I hope to help him make this car roadworthy again. The car was purchased in 1956 and parked in 1968.

I see its equiped with the rare coffee table option, with lamp and flag. What eles in the shed??? Looks like most of it has been pretty static for a long while. Are most of them convertibles.

The owner worked in a Dodge garage in the 60s and is a Mopar fan, most of the cars that are in the pictures are now gone. Some of the cars had been spoken for over two years ago but had been stuck in the shed. All the sold cars left on Saturday when the little Dodge came out.

Ed,I had Das Boats at the same time both with Tor red paint, orangish red, and white tops.

A 1969 new yorker 4 door and a 1971 300, both with 440's and 727 white interior, black dash and gold carpet.

Not to mention every option known to man! The NY had 4 cigar lighters, two in the dash and one in each back door.

You shouldnt have a problem finding most parts for yours on ebay. Is it a Flat head six? if so you shouldnt have a problem brining it back to life. They ran those engines in forklifts in the 50's. You cant kill'em! Let's see some pics.

As a fairly new owner of a '49 Coronet club coupe I have learned tons of mopar facts here on p15-d24. Your at the right place. Mine is also a maroon color (old repaint). Although I haven't found the color on original paint charts it is featured on several period magazine advertisiements so I'm in the process of repainting it maroon now. Welcome.
