I'm close to you in Medina. Have a 49 Coronet Club Coupe. Are you goona go to the Monday Lockport or Sat Olcott cruise ins?

For the lights what I use when driving are a cheap ($9.99 on sale/coupon from Harbor Freight) set of magnetic trailer lights. I had to use a small file to change the light bulb sockets to fit my 6V bulbs, just spliced into the wires in the trunk. I put them out where visible when I drive and put them back in the trunk when I'm parked at a cruise-in....gives me much more confidence in the visibility of my lights and I'm sure they add an element of safety.

Geez.....If true this would have potential for any collector of anything, maybe even a kid could get his baseball card collection taxed???? How about family antique stuff???? Lets hope this is untrue.

There are 2 "scotty" forums: NSSO (national serro scotty organization) and SSCE (serro scotty camping enthusiasts). I've bought 2 scottys this winter, gonna sell one for profit and fix the other, smaller one to go with my '49 coronet. There is a lot of interest in these vintage style campers which can nicely complement a vintage car. Good deals are there to be found.

I second the vote for automotive interiors. Got entire interior for my '49 coronet coupe from them, everything fit perfect, good instructions for the seats. side panels were easy to figure out. I paid a pro $300 to install the headliner kit. I also got a seat rebuild kit for the front--fixed it up good. They also looked up some samples not in their regular selection and I got something very close to original which is what I wanted. Very good quality of service and communications. At that time a gal named Diane ran the show and was terrific. Look for some good quality hog-ring pliers with stout handles long enough for your whole hand and you'll do fine. (they will provide cheapy pliers which I used but killed my hands doing so). you may need more hog-rings too, look in a "farm" store.

I replaced my battery and still found it dead a few times, couldnt figure out why.....hardley ever drive it at night but did once and discovered that the glove box light wasn't always turning off, couldnt see it during daylight. removed bulb, now all good.

As a fairly new owner of a '49 Coronet club coupe I have learned tons of mopar facts here on p15-d24. Your at the right place. Mine is also a maroon color (old repaint). Although I haven't found the color on original paint charts it is featured on several period magazine advertisiements so I'm in the process of repainting it maroon now. Welcome.

I paid $2200 for my 49 coronet coupe, solid body, inspected and drove it home. Needed repaint, tires, interior, odds and ends. Very happy with my choice.

RobertKB: If you "just grabbed" a kid today you'd be arrested, fired and possibly legally restricted from any child related activity or work. No more scouts, little league, youth group etc., forever. Thats a big part of whats contributing to the problem. The kids all know thier rights and school administrators cave in every time cause they don't want to stain thier own record and ability to earn the big, big bucks. My part time retirement job is as a school bus driver. Don't get me started!

I'm too much of a newbee to really know what you guys are talking about. All I can add is that this forum has given me more knowledge and enjoyment than any other one I've ever been on and I have seen less nonsense here than on others too. I knew absolutely nothing about old mopars when I bought mine a year ago. I've still got a lot more to learn but I can't describe how important this forum is to me including the input from each and every member. Please, please don't go. Ignore what bothers you and enjoy the good karma you get for helping guys like me. For every responder that bugs you there are many silent readers that are thankful for every piece of info. Even if the opinions are in conflict that provides thinking points that assist the reader in analyzing his own application. If there are guys noted for a lack of diplomacy your thread gives notice and we can only hope they might reflect on rephrasing thier comments to avoid offending anyone. PEACE!

ditto on everything already reported. I'm a viet nam era vet but never left stateside, so obviousely have no combat related issues. despite that I get 100% of my health care from the VA. I do have to pay a nominal co-pay for prescriptions but thats it. As a low-bucks guy the money issue is simple: no VA = no health care at all. They have a terrific computer system that allows any caregiver access to my entire history anytime. They are very pro-active in preventive care that in the end probably saves lives as well as money. The center I go has no emergency room like a big hospital. As far as rotating off shore docs goes I used to experience that but in last few years I mostly see nurse-practioners and/or PAs who I believe are much beter. when I need more specialized care its about a 45 minute drive to the big "city" VA hospital. If it wern't for the VA I'd probalbly be very sick or dead. I bet there are many vets who don't know they are qualified for coverage. for guys like me its important to fight VA budget cutbacks because they might be forced to stop covering my VA classification.

Someone gave me a lead but the lens king never responded to several requests, even though his site showed several in stock. I need a drivers side tail light lens for a 1949 dodge coronet. Can anyone help me find one? Thank you.

Busted my driver's side plastic tailight lens and havent been able to locate one. saw one on ebay ad for a set of four for over $500.00--no thanks. its a 49 dodge coronet club coupe...left and right are different and side-specific. If you havent got it would you have a possible affordable source? THANK YOU!

The cheapest kitty litter without odor absorbing stuff is 100% clay. Use that. Carry some in the bucket, drop some on the spot and using your feet grind it into the stains. drop some more all around and do the hokey-pokey twist while doing some more grinding. Then use a very stiff brush/broom to further push it into the surface. Then sweep up and dispose of it. repeat if required. This is the procedure used by haz-mat guys.

I don't know but want to advise being very careful. There could be 4 or more variations. Measure the diameter and width of the drum as there are 6 and 7 inch diameter versions. I think some drums may have internal vs external bands. There are different 6 inch drums. If yours is 7 inch diameter I might have a drum and band with new lining.

If you do all that remember to take a couple of wood blocks for when you park the car. I've got fluid drive in my '49 coronet and I wish they never invented it. I find its alleged benefits to be of no use. Wanta trade?

I found several books at local library on fixing/restoring cars that had chapters on interior/headliners. In the end I still didn't trust myself and paid a pro $300 to install for me. I'm glad I did although the expense hurt. Everytime I drive the car I love that headliner. Did everything else myself with ease. Good luck.

I have a small compressor adequite for spray painting but it doesn't produce enough cfm to run a random orbit sander. Has anyone ever used an electric sander on a car? I've got to get down through a 30 year old bad lacquer paint job and don't want to have to buy a bigger comprssor.

Very, very nice. I particularly like the nice interior. I'm kinda like you, 65. Got my '49 to give me and my wife something to do together going to cruise-ins. Last night about 50 owners cruised to the local old folks home--all the residents that were healthy enough were outside. You should have seen how happy they were! It was our first "parade" and many kids and familys were outdoors in town cheering us on. What a blast. Enjoy yours.
