RobertKB Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 Thanks for posting. I put it on my watch list because that is all I can afford is to watch it. LOL Would be a nice car to do cosmetically and keep it a survivor. I think it will sell quickly as they seldom come up for sale. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 It was on the bay once before-no sale. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 (edited) Actually that thing is darn nice........ Too bad they've become so expensive. Looks like you could clean it up, revarnish the wood, and show as a survivor. Edited October 30, 2010 by BobT-47P15 Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 This is a true driveable dream - Teriffic, but waaay out budget. However, have to watch until end of auction, just out of couriosity. Quote
dezeldoc Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 They may have gotten that price a few years ago but in todays market it is way out of line. the prices have dropped so much it is almost not worth selling unless it is a necessity. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 So true about the prices except Model A Ford trucks are going up!!!! Boy how would you repair that rig if you got T Bone? Guess you could get alot of wood filler. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 You'd have to send it to one of the restoration shops that works with the wood bodied cars. Quote
james49ply Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 I question as to why the seller wouldn't even wash the car, unless the paint is totaly beyond cleaning up, and the price, well, my price guide says a #3 (one that looks perfect at 20 feet, and this one does not) top dollar is $29K, perfect (better than new) $65K. I wouldn't give him more than $10K for it. did you notice the trunk lifts?, they are not stock and the mount brackets they installed look like a 12 year old did them. The prices people ask these days is ridiculous. they think buyers are totaly stupid. I should put mine up for sale, maybe $30K? Quote

My belief is Woodies should get a sponge bath, that way the wood stays dry! I sponge bath my woodies so no water gets inside the doors and gets the unvarnised wood/drain holes wet, causingdark stains and varnish pop off. The trunk lift tubes with the strong springs inside of them are original T&C factory equipment. All 1946-50 Town and Country cars use them for the trunk lids. The brackets do look a little hokey though and I just worked on a 47 sedan and never paid much attention to the trunk brackets. Wish I would have now. Bob Quote

michael.warshaw Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 its amazing that a t and c can bring 100 k when perfect for a sedan, but a p15 brings 20. in my opinion they are almost the same car. except they got a 8 we got a 6. Quote
oldmopar Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 ebay tend to get silly prices because there is no fee to list. So sellers put it way over priced I think mostly to get someone to look and make the deal off ebay . Quote

I think the Chryslers in general garner more attention. I have old cars at my place all the time. But one time I had my Dad's '48 New Yorker Club Cpe at my place for a couple weeks and twice strangers driving by turned around and came back to talk about that car. No-one has ever done that with the half dozen other cars I've had around over the years. Go figure? Quote
48P15Annie Posted November 2, 2010 Author Report Posted November 2, 2010 To many of these people have Barrett Jackson syndrome! The only cure is REALITY!! X2! I was watching Pawn Stars last night, and someone was trying to sell their 1981 DeLorean, and when they asked how much he wanted for it, he said "Well, I've seen them go for $40,000 on Barrett-Jackson". There are a lot of NICE cars that come across the Barrett-Jackson block, I enjoy watching it very much, however, that is NOT a reliable source as to the value of the vehicles. Quote

The closest thing I'll ever get to owning a Town & Country is the 1/24 scale model from the Danbury Mint that I have from my grandpa Or the mini-van As far as mini-vans go, it's not half bad looking -shrug- Lol.
