I did not work on my car because..........

What's your reason? I ended up welding together a pair of steel gate frames for a dumpster enclosure. I didn't want to do it, but the money was just too good to turn down right now. My daughter needs her tonsils out and the insurance company insists they are a pre-existing condition......thanks for the health care reform! I did the work within view of my wagon, so at least I could think about working on it.......next weekend.

Went with my wife to the North Georgia mountains near South Carolina to celebrate our 1st anniversary a week early. She planned the trip for me to play golf at a nice course there and we did horseback riding and a lot of eating.:D

PS. She laughs when I get excited, we were in what I refer to as "old car in barn" country. We did see some nice old cars around, a restored late 20's Model T, a mid 50's Ford Pickup, and I missed the car show that was literally a 1/4 mile from my house on Saturday. One nice thing is that we both agreed that when the Dodge is done it would be great to take on a trip like that.

It was way too cold yesterday up here so I surfed the net, and watched sport on TV. 6°C at 1pm. This week I'm on holidays and I will do some on the car today, like strip all the engine accessories off and prep the engine, bellhousing & gearbox for new paint. For the rest of the week I might get an hour or so to do stuff because my son is playing in the state U15 football (AFL football that is) championships all this week. That's in the city, and we live 45 minutes out. In fact, I have about 25 hours of his football related activity this week. But it's fun. When he's rich he going to buy me a DeSoto with a hemi.

Oh, also gonna buy some paint to restore my steering wheel.

I've been swamped since spring with all kinds of stuff at home. I've had my Harley transmission out repairing it. The shifter pawl spring broke and a piece got in between 5th gear mainshaft and 5th countershaft. They don't like extra pieces floating around. Done brake job on my Jeep today. Been busy at work too, come home worn out from the heat. Haven't much felt like working on it but it has been on my mind. Have to paint kitchen before I get back to it though.

I just sat on my butt and rested! i have been putting in 15 hour days trying to get these 3 project cars done so today i just did nothing!:D

I was in and out of the house all day..go out for awhile, work in the heat and humidity..take a chiller..cold water and a few minutes down time..this way I got to stay busy and not overdo myself..mind you I was not tired or felt overheated, just figured this to be the best approach..after DA'ing the hood, I did a couple acid procedures, finishing with a wet sand with acid, let this dry good, DA'ed again, quick wipe and shot my hood with primer, mixed enough primer so I would be able to spray the rear seat back frame I had prepared a bit earlier.

So if we did work on our car are we banned from this thread? I will admit that the opportunity presented itself for Carmon and I to borrow Dads 69 convert friday night so I drove that to the North St Paul cruise instead of the 48.

Folks,

I did not work on my car because my dog ate my homework.

Actually I did work on Pigiron today but I couldn't resist the comment. I started rolling the primer on the roof and will tell you all about it in a different thread later this evening.

Alright I did do some work on my car. I was prodded by my grandson Mason who was a big help. Pulled the carpet, pedels, and shift lever. Vacummed the floor in anticipation of floor removal and new master cylinder installation.

I didn't work on my car this weekend because I was too busy driving it:

To the air field with the missus for breakfast, then on to the feed store to pick up breakfast for the horses.

I will be working on the car soon as on the way home Red got reeeaaal hot on the way up the last hill. With 150 lbs of feed in the trunk (and a good bit of grits and gravy in my belly) I figured it was just too much work for one hot Alabama day. Today I didn't make it to the end of the road before I hit 212°+. I see a thermostat, water distribution tube, radiator flush, etc. in my future.

I've been fishin', building two storage sheds and working on a bench in my garage, trimming trees, shootin', and visiting kinfolk. But I did have an inkling to take off a bumper (to get rechromed) and a gravel guard (to repaint) yesterday. Maybe it will happen today.

man, first I thought what a tough family then I went back and saw shootin AND visiting kinfolks..

if I never get a car done its all the same to me...doing what you have to in keeping the house and yard and family matters with aging folks takes enough toll on you...working on your car is your outlet, a self satisfying act that should always bring joy..beisdes, 9 times out of 10 ists going to stay parked while I move to yet another project...

I didn't because I was paying a professional 5 bills to rebuild my driveline. OUCH! This has been an expensive year.

Note too that the shootin' came before the visit to the kinfolk. Some might call it "practice" but I prefer to characterize it as recreation in anticipation of an uncertain future!

I didn't because my phone rang Friday with an In Law on the line asking if I would take them boatin. I weighed the two activities carefully for a nanosecond and decided against removing rusty dusty bolts in 100 degree weather and chose this activity instead.

Reg;

You are smarter than the average bear:D

I agree Reg is right on with his approach.....I am thinking if weather continues like this..I may indeed head to the mountians for a bit of tubing down the river this coming weekend..will be in much need of a quick trip out of town by then anyway...but until then..its full steam ahead, literally, its steamy here..hope to have a major panel finish and put aside by then..works continues...just not at rocket speed..
