Robin (UK) Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Hi Guys, I've just been sent this link to a 10-minute documentary about our Rhythm Riot festival. Melanie made the film as a project for her masters degree in electronic media. She's done a great job. Look out for... a couple of shots of my P15 in the opening sequences Paul Bone (P11 owner and Forum member) at 3'12" Deano's P15 2-door sedan at 3'33" and Andy with his D24 at 3'40" There's also lots of footage of me and my wife, Colette, talking!!! Our interview was at the Ace Cafe. The film captures the event quite well. I hope you like it. Here's the link: Quote
randroid Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Robin, That was great! Thanks so much for posting it. It's always a pleasure to meet other forum members and now I suppose a lot of forum members will be able to meet you and your charming bride. That's a very cool event and I especially appreciated the comments you made about how the Riot won't be lost when you might lose current members because there are so many young people interested in what you're doing. The very best to you! -Randy Quote

Joe Flanagan Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 That was incredible. Very well done. I loved the music. Loved the clothes. I might have to start wearing my hair that way. Quote
greg g Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Robin's style or there was a girl who had a curl right in the middle of her forehead. When she was good she was very very good, but when she was bad she was horrid? Quote
Robin (UK) Posted February 11, 2010 Author Report Posted February 11, 2010 (edited) I agree with Neil, the Bus was Cat's Sleep pants! Hey Eric & Neil, I LOVE having the bus at the festival. We hire it to provide a free shuttle service into the local town, all day Saturday and Sunday. We first used it three years ago (intended to be a one-off feature) but it was so popular that we've kept on providing it. It costs us about $2500 for the weekend. It's a 1956 Bedford SB and it took a lot of research to locate one we could hire. There are quite a few in private hands but the owners don't hold the licenses for use as a public service vehicle. Luckily, this one is owned by a family-run transport company, so no such problem. Everyone has a great time riding in such a fabulous machine. Here are a couple of pictures.... Does anyone know what the black and red car is? Edited February 11, 2010 by Robin (UK) Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Those outfits and hairstyles are so authentic-looking that you could easily be fooled into thinking you're looking at a photograph from the period. A lot of research must go into that. Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Robin, Great Video, I think that car looks like a 49 or 50 ford. Tony C Quote
normanpitkin Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 I know what the black and red car is,in fact, I had one in 1979.......perhaps that makes it too easy though.... Quote
Robin (UK) Posted February 11, 2010 Author Report Posted February 11, 2010 I know what the black and red car is,in fact, I had one in 1979.......perhaps that makes it too easy though.... And I had a convertible. Just seeing if any of our American friends can ID it. I'll give the answer tomorrow if nobody gets it. R. Quote

Greenbomb Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 My dad had acouple of those cars. We just called them "English Fords". About '52 or '53 models, IIRC. They had the turn signal flags on the left side. Quote

They had the turn signal flags on the left side. Well done, Greenbomb. You are certainly the closest. It's a British Ford - a Mk1 Zephyr Six. The red and black one is actually a 54-56 model but you are correct that the earlier models had the turn signals on the B-posts (those signals are called trafficators). These cars were powered by a 2262cc straight six OHV engine. Ford UK originally planned to sell the US built shoebox in Britain but it was decided that it was just too big for the British roads. The Mk1 Zephyr (and the 1508cc 4-cylinder Consul) were designed as scaled down versions of the US car. A couple of pictures below - this is the actual car I used to own. I restored it to showroom condition but had too much money tied up in it, so had to sell it to help fund the purchase of our first house. Quote
fstfish66 Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 great video,,,not enough cars,,,or music,, if it were in black and white,,,you wouldnt be able to tell its not the 1950s,, Quote
UKPlymouth Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Just watched the film Robin, very good - I must try and find the time to get down to the Rhythm Riot! At the moment I'm busy stripping down a complete P15 rolling chassis I picked up off ebay - complete with Coker whitewalls. That's in between the snow of course. Quote
Robin (UK) Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 Hi Garry, Hope you can make it to ROG this year. Looks like Deano and I will meet up with Richard and his D25, and all travel together. If Bob's there, as usual, with his yellow P15 coupe, we could have at least 5 of us in one place. That would be a great photo opportunity. R. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Man that looks like fun. Great job. Quote
