All, its not too ealry to start planning. I know at both the Wisconsin and Maryland POC National meets discussion began about this tip. The idea was to reuse the 2000 trip details that the POC put together, it probably will not be a National Club supported trip, rather a loose knit group of rebelsworking their way across the backroads of america enroute to the Portland area along a pre set route and timetable. I just got an email from Cliff Middleton (owner of the only RV rated Plymouth Wagon) he is the current project leader and he is in. I am planning on going taking my 47 Sedan and will probably pull a small pop up camper. If anyone is interested in send me an email and I will add you to the distribution list. Plans are to drive about 250-300 miles per day, across the upper part of the US. Middleboro MA, Metamorus PA, Gettysburg PA, East Liverpool OH, Auburn IN, Geneva IL, Clinton IA, Blari NE, Ogallala NE, Casper Wy, West Yellowstone, Missoula MT, Walla Walla WA, Troutdale OR, Portland. Not sure if the theme will be BBB (Bars, Beer and BBQ) or DDDI (Diners, Dives and Drive Ins). So with Clif and I we have two, thats enough to be recognized as an official "Gang" but we could sure use a few drivers and maybe even a few riders. My email is maubuchon@technicalconcepts.com

Mark, do you have a link or contact to whomever is organizing the Mass to Chicago legs.

I just mapped it from here, its 3086 miles one way. Guess I need to get the Studebaker truck ready to tow,

Might have to detour a bit to swing by the blusskies contingent. Swing by Chrostophers place too.

Who's up for a race up Mt Hood?????

Greg right now its a grass roots effort. Cliff is the energizer. At the Maryland meet several East Coaster mentioned they would be interested. When you get a minute drop him a note. Its going be a long slow trip which is perfect! Lots of backroads, small towns, and great stories. I invite everyone to hook up with us for a day or night or what ever part of the trip you can make. I know We will publish more details, Cliff is checking with the POC to see who has the orginal document and if it is in an electronic format. The work has already been done, we are just going to recreate the trip using the original route. Here is Cliff's email. clifton114@yahoo.com

The meet is June 16 through the 20th.

As most of you should know by now the 2010 Meet will be hosted by the Cascade Plymouth Region at the Monarch Hotel and Convention Center in Clackamas, OR.

The dates for the Meet are June 16 - 20, 2010.

If anybody wants to travel through southern Canada, especially the west, there are a few forum members here who would make you welcome.

Don, in the first post I listed the cities we will be staying/stopping in for the night. I am sure they should have some type Marriott property. I know Cliff wants to stick pretty close to the orginal route and tiem frame. Its never too early tostart planning

I did a run down of all the towns on the route. There are two or three with no Marriott hotels within 50 miles. However there is a Marriott right across the street from the convension hotel.

I believe the previous plan was for only about 250 miles a day. This is a redo of the coast to coast tout the POC did a couple years back.

Checking the stops from Iowa on the stops never exceeded 350 miles per day. When I am on the road I usually do around 600+ miles per day. Most I did in my P-15 was around 750 miles in one day. So I could leave 3 days late and catch up easily.

DC, as we prepare thisis a very fluid plan. Once we figure out who is in, I am sure Cliff can reorganize the days. I for one, am ok going out taking my time, seeing the sights. But on the way home, interstate hammer down, party over until next year

I won't be able to attend the portland meet but I'd consider driving down to meet up with the group in Iowa and hanging out for the night. Clinton as mentioned above is 400miles from me.

Seems like a bit of an odd route, to run through Missoula... you'll miss the best part of Idaho, and you'll have to backtrack a bit to see Yellowstone. Instead, I would go from West Yellowstone to Salmon, ID to Stanley, ID, to Loman, ID to Boise, ID, to Bend, OR to Portland. Incredibly picturesque.

The Stanley Basin is my stomping grounds, and is not to be missed...

I'd love to join the tour as it comes through, where ever it may be.

If you follow Bluesky's route you can stop off at Stanley Lake and do some spectacular fishing. When I was there last summer, I had my limit in less than 15 minutes. Really!! The route from Boise to Bend is a desolate but crossing the Cascades is not to miss.

It would certainly work better for me if the route went through southern Idaho from Jellystone. If that be the case, I'm ON the route :D.

Coming through Craters of the Moon would be faster than going north through Salmon, but there isn't much to see out there. You'd go through Arco, the worlds first Atomic powered city, and Craters of the Moon National Monument, and not much else. After Craters, you would take a turn to the north and go through Sun Valley to get to the Stanley Basin. Sun Valley is the country's first ski resort, home of the worlds first chairlift. And all the movie stars, etc . This is where the scenery starts to get good, and only gets better as you move north. The route through Stanley, Loman, Garden Valley, and to Boise is awesome. The road winds through the mountains along the river. Well worth the time check it out.

This is the view from Galena Summit, overlooking the Sawtooth Mountains-

Roads will be dry by June, mountains will still be snow capped.

If I can swing it, I plan to make the run to Portland. It would be great to make the trip with everyone running from the east.
