Woody Branham Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Went today to where my p11 is being kept (outdide by the way) and pulled the carb to bring it home for a rebuild. When I started taking it apart I found LIVE ants. It has been as low as 20 here in Hotlanta. Some were dead but many were still alive. How can that be??? Anyway, weather permitting, I will pull the distributor tomorrow to install new points, cap, rotor and condensor. Anyone have any part #s fot these?? Woody Quote
Brad Lustig Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I don't know the part numbers, but if you bring a couple of those ants into Napa, they'll probably be able to match them up Quote
Niel Hoback Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Make sure you specify 6 volt negative ground ants. Quote
Brad Lustig Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Those ants are POSITIVE ground. Unless a previous owner switched them Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 The only way to positive ground an ant is with your right heel on concrete.. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Maybe you should put some ants begon in your gas tank? Quote
greg g Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 thereis a plate on the dist with a part number, take the number to your parts supplier, as there are a couple different distributors used and the points locations vary by type. the easiset way to deal with the distributor is to pull it and do the work on the bench. Just be sure to reference mark the rotor position to the body and the vacuum advance pot to the engine block. remove the wire from the coil and remove the screw holding the dist to the block and pull the distup and out of the block. Niel Hoback Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 No wonder my ants have been running backwards! Quote
bob westphal Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 The parts you want for the distributor should be available at your local NAPA. Forget the ants! They don't sell them! Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 Now if I was the owner of this rig I would be concerned about antS especially "CARPENTER ANTS" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
anthonyb Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 What's the level beyond "Waaaaay toooooo much time on his hands?" Beautiful work though! Quote

Don Coatney Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 I like all wood when I can get it. Guess I am out for twelve. Let me know when I can get back in. Hope that did not put me at twenty four.... Quote
wldavis3 Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Seems to me that a wood blower would not stay together very long with all the pressure it puts out!!! Maybe it is being underdriven. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Well here's the truth its a small block chevy under all that wood and underneath that blower is a four barrel carberator. Very nice and original car. Jon Quote
Normspeed Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Wow. Jon, that would answer a question or two about those heads. Very clever work, and I can only wish my woodworking was that good. I'd love to own it........wooden shoe? Quote
