Don Jordan Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 My wife and I went on vacation. Great time. Back in the old days when you had film each picture was a treasure because you didn't want to waste any. Boy, those days are gone. Now with digital my wife just shot up the works. I think she took over 500 pictures. Don't like it - delete it. Anyway these shots are from Bodie, CA. It's a real ghost town. Saw this car and can't name it. It's not a Chevy because the louvers on the side of the hood are wrong. Any guesses? Also the blue truck is a 1927 Dodge Graham and the motor is any body's guess - like I said my wife went crazy. I've had this blow up hanging in my kitchen for years. My wife bought it at an art show held in the office lobby where she works. The photographer entitled it "37 Chevy in Bodie" Maybe it's a Buick or Pontiac if not a Chevy ? Quote
Niel Hoback Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I don't think it could be a Pontiac or it would have a wide vertical trim in the center of the deck lid. Or at least the holes for its mount studs. Quote
Reg Evans Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Sure looks like a 37 Chevy to me. PS Oh Norm.....have you looked at Pete Anderson's photos ? Quote
Captain Neon Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Most digital cameras now offer resolution better than 35mm. Cheap camera phones are rapidly reaching the resolution of 35mm film. My previous Vivitar digital offered 35mm quality. The Canon that my wife bought me for Christmas has about twice the resolution of my old Vivitar. I think you would be quite surprised what you could get in digital for the same money you are spending in film processing in one year. With the discontinuation of Kodachrome, it won't be much longer before C-41 becomes a specialty process done by just a few labs. Quote
PatS.... Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 There is a local company here that has an online album service where you can upload your digital pics just like photobucket. Then, you can tag them and send in your order and within 24 hrs they will have your digital pics printed on 100 yr photographic paper/ink. If you buy a block of 100 prints they are less than a buck each. I'm sure most places have a similar service. (for Canadians, it's Blacks Photo) I've got 100's of prints taken on the digital. I don't like leaving them on the computer at all, too easy to lose them forever. Quote
Captain Neon Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Wal*Mart prints up high-quality photos from digital files as well. Prints are comparable to what one gets from a typical photo lab and you only pay for the prints that you want unlike developing film where you pay for everything. Archival photos are truly nice, but at $1 a pop that's pretty steep for sharing with the annual Christmas card. Quote
Andydodge Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Thats a 37 Chev grille and hood on that coupe, looks like a 37 Chev to me........, btw we got different hood sides on chevs in 1937 here in Oz, but thats a pic of a genuine US 37 Chev coupe for my money.........andyd Quote
Young Ed Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Norm I print mine directly from photobucket. I select which prints I want and which sizes and quantities I want them in. Tell photobucket which target store I will pick them up at and an hour later they are done. 29 cents for a 4x6. I've gotten a few 8x10s that came out great. And those were done with my old 5megapixel camera. My new sony is 13. I wouldn't waste my time with home prints anymore. They aren't as good take just as long and they actually cost more! Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I like having a hard copy of a pic.:)old school. The car is a 1938 chevy coupe. two lights in the back, 37 chevy had one light;) Quote
