while this may or may not be all inclusive but searching my resources (again not all inclusive) the first reference to a Plymouth with 3 pinstripes was on the 1954 model with them being 3 x 1/8 inch wide..all reference to previous model was just that they were pinstripped..no detail on amount or width. was a bit diappointed in that this subject was not covered a bit better in the judging criteria..

Hi Tim. All P-15-C s ( Spec. Del. ) came with 3 stripes . Wheel was body color and stripes were Straw,Flake White,Gold Bronze, and Vermillion Red. I have info

on which went with which,if anyones interested. The center stripe was !/8" wide

and the two outers 1/16". There was a 1/8" space between them. The three were located half way between the hubcap and the rim. All P-15-S s ( Deluxe ) came with Black Wheels regardless of Body Color and NO Stripes. This info is from the Chrsler Corp. Booklet titled " Whats New About Servicing The New Plymouth,Model P-15 ". Hope this helps Frank M.

I was sure there existed some data to that effect..I could not find it on the judging sheets however..something of this nature should be very well defined in competitive showing in my opinion..thanks for posting..I have penciled this information into my spec sheet for the P15's

I have a original p-15S Gunmetal gray and the wheels were painted body color and with three flake white stripes. The back side of the wheels were painted the same color as the trunk and inside the fenders.

In my experience, 1951-52 Plymouths got pinstriped wheels on Cambridge and Concord because they came with small hubcaps as standard equipment. The Cranbrooks didn't get pinstripes because they came with full wheel covers.

I've heard the opposite that they striped them all regardless of which wheel covers the car would have.

I've seen a number of Cranbrooks with original black-painted wheels from the factory, regardless of body color.

Might be another case of individual assembly plants doing things differently.
