Hi

Can anyone verify this engine number T310-23078

What size

What year

and were the engine was built

The VIN number of the car is 11503497 it would like to know if it matches the car.

I am a new member.

You don't say what year or brand your car is but I can tell you no it doesnt match. T310 is a truck engine

Doesn't matter if it is a truck engine except it means you do not have the right year and stamping for your car. Both my '48 Dodge D25 and 38' Chrysler have truck engines in them. Unless you are a Mopar afficiando, no one will know the difference. If it runs well, leave it alone. Welcome to the best forum on the WWW by the way.

I have had a look at the reference and I have seen the engine number is a truck engine.

The Car is a 1946 Club coupe 502, the fact that the motor is a truck motor does not bother me to much, it looks like I get an extra 7 hp.

I will look through the tech info, give her a minor head shave to gain a few more horses.

I would like to ask a question?

In 1951 the 230ci motor has 103hp

In 1954 the 230ci motor has 105 hp

In 1956 the 230ci motor has 125hp but nothing much changed internally.

The information I have checked shows that the valves were the same the timing was the same, I dont know about the carb or the cam.

The only thing that changed was that the compression went up in 2.5 to 1 increments.

1951 7-1

1954 7.25 -1

1956 7.5 -1

In that case did the heads change or were they simply machined to increase compression?

Does anyone know how you check the head thickness or depth of the head to the spark plug hole (or however it is done) to determain whether the head is standard or if it has been machined.

Is there a guide that I can use that gives my the head deck heights to spark plug hole (Or a position to use as a datum for measureing the head deck height) relative to compression and amount of machining required to gain compression?

I live in Canberra in Australia.

I am coming to the States in early August to go to speed week.

I have never been before, I am really looking forward to it.

I have been to the States a couple of times but I have never been to Bonneville.

The Plymouth Coupe I am talking about, I have bought out of the States, it will be on the water in the next couple of weeks and on its way to Australia.

I really want to keep it as standard as possible (keep the flathead) and just drive it around and enjoy a peice of American history.

do you not need to change it to right hand drive??? thought that was required in Australia.

The old rules were if a vehicle was over 25 years old and being keep in a fairly standard condtion it can be kept as LHD.

The rules have just gone (or may be still going) through some changes were motors and brakes can be up graded and still remain LHD.

No Greg is correct, I dont plan on changing her at this stage, so there are no problems with left hand drive.

Are you going to speed week this year?

Hi Andy I just opened the about us section, mate, nice looking coupe. Will you get a dual carb manafold and carbs from the States?
