Normspeed Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 OK, this is not a stock motor. Any guesses on what kind of motor? (I know the answer) Quote
40phil41 Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 Stovebolt chevy with Paxton supercharger. Phil Quote
james curl Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 I want to guess AMC I/6 or MoPar Jeep I/6. Chevy does not have external oil pump. Don't think it is a Canadian built Studerbaker I/6 about 1964. Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 I go with Phil, possibly a GMC. Tony C Quote
dezeldoc Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 well if ya blow up the pic it looks like it says GMC on the side cover, it is a GM head for sure. maybe a high volume oil pump is why it is so big. how about the big GMC 301. Quote
wallytoo Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 i was thinking it said "crane" on the side cover. ?? Quote
later Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 Chevy 292 with some serious modifications is my guess. Quote
aero3113 Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 It looks like it says gram on the side covers to me Quote
Grandadeo Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 Uh, Uh, Mr. Kotter, pick me, pick me, I know what it is. Is that fact that it's from "down south" too vague a hint. Lee Quote
Tony WestOZ Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 I know, I know but will not tell. Depends on how far "down south" you go. Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 I would rather have one of these. Quote
Normspeed Posted December 24, 2008 Author Report Posted December 24, 2008 "Down South" is a good clue. Grandadeo is on the same forum where I snagged the photo so he be cheatin'. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 It's from so far down south that it's Christmas Day. I'm also a member of that other forum. Dennis:D Quote
Normspeed Posted December 24, 2008 Author Report Posted December 24, 2008 It's a nice forum, has the feel of this one as far as the software used as well as the mellowness of the members. Here's the link: http://www.roddingroundtable.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9670&sid=5b9dda660f84068bf3b099c6b045b521 The motor is a supercharged Holden, going in a 1948 Vauxhall, running straight LP gas for an estimated 300+ ponies. Merry Christmas to our members in that part of the world. PS I believe the motor will be going into this car. Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 Yeah Greg you tell em boy, I studder. Tony C Quote
Grandadeo Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 holden = chevy Maybe Norm was trying to sneak it past the forum "unwanted word blocker." It sounds a whole lot more exotic when you say Holden and, as a matter of fact I guess, down there it is a Holden. Lee Quote
Tony WestOZ Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 holden = chevy Holden = General Motors Holden's sold in the USA are Pontiac. In England its Opal. Sadie Arabia and similar countries they are sold under the Chevrolet name. Holden is one of the few divisions of GM that is actually making a profit. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 probably due to the fact the UAW is not crippling production and the so called Holden Pontiacs here in the US...pure T grabage engines with heads that are weaker than a pregnant woman's bladder Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 GMC engines since 1937,until 1959. Quote
