55 Fargo Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Hi all, now I didn't say it was a real car, picked up my 48 Chrysler T&C Rag Top at the post office, it's a vintage Avon Cologne. It was sent to me as a gift, by Frankie from Omaha, he and his thoughtful Wife found it for me at a swap meet in there area. So thank you vey much for the gift Frankie, it arrived safely to Manitoba Canada...........Fred Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Those are neat looking......I've had one for quite a few years now. Enjoy looking at it sitting on my shelf. Always thought those were cool cars. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 At last year's WPC meet in Chicago I think there were around 17 T&C's there. It was WAAAYYYY COOL!!!!! Here's a few pics from that week. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Merle I went to their meet held here in maybe 04. Same thing then. They sure are neat to see. If you want a similar car to work on check out the p15 woodie thats on ebay. Might take you a little while longer to fix then your truck did. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Merle, There's at least one T&C Chrysler convertible near us. Think the guy is from Kenosha. Never met him but have seen his car. He use to attend the Waukesha car show and swap meet put on in May by Madison Classics a lot of times. Quote

Looks like a good candidate for your front clip. Other than that it looks like scrap to me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1947-Plymouth-woody-wagon-rat-rod-hot-rod_W0QQitemZ110296961301QQihZ001QQcategoryZ6387QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Merle Quote
Phil Martin Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 I saw a 40 chebby woody on craigslist that was all there but needed to be restored. $75,000 Don't remember where, saw it yesterday. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Merle I bet people fix woodies like that. Quote
RobertKB Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Ed, you could buy that for the front clip and then sell the woodie only parts for more than you paid for the car. I say go for it! Quote
Young Ed Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Thats a pretty decent drive for me. Maybe Don C will deliver it for me. I think its close to him. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Back a few years ago there was a junkyard I stumbled across on the net with a T&C convert in the same shape as that woodie wagon. They wanted 15K for it! Quote
RobertKB Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 What a gorgeous bunch of Chrysler woodies. I've always liked the four door sedans for some reason. Rockwood, maybe you should do the wood trim treatment on your coupe! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Hey, it's in or near Murfreesboro.......Don's home town. He could just drive it on home......stop at Home Depot for a few pieces of 2-by's and plywood.....have that puppy back on the road in no time. :D Has three bumper guards, the hard to find windshield wiper bases, and a gooseneck (swan) mirror. Even has a motor, based on the fact I see an air cleaner. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Here's an aftermarket wood add-on for a Chevy.....possibly dealer installed as a kit thing. Then, there's "Plywood". Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 If you were real patient and inclined, you could get some balsa wood and make a woody out of this P15 model. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 I belileve this is his. (on the right) Merle, That's not the one. Actually, I've never seen that one around. Looks like he has 4 old cars registered though. Has a C on it indicating it's his 4th. I have two sets of plates. One from the 70 Chevy I had with no letters, and the plates on my coupe which has an A, then the same number. That's because I had both of them at the same time. They just keep adding letters to the end of the numbers for each car you have. Anyway, the T&C I was talking about is a convertible and it's maroon or red. Had the plaid seat covers in it. I think I have a picture of it, but don't know where it's buried. Was a real nice car. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 We have a P15 4 door woody owner on the forum, or at least we use to. Remember Plywoody. Think he lived in either Washington or Oregon. Myself, I like the all steel bodied cars. Woody's are ok to look at but not my cup of tea, so wouldn't want to add wood to my coupe. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Come to think of it Norm, that guy might be here in Milwaukee. I do remember that he was from the area. Quote
1947PLEVY Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Yep: Don knows where he lives. He is the guy I bought my 47 from in the Boro. He does alot of custom work on cars also. Does a real good job. A very talented man and knowledgable about old rods... Take Care and God Bless... John 47Plevy Quote

Frank Elder Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Your welcome Fred! I'll bet it was in better shape than you expected. I smelled that kind of cologne when I was a child on my grandfather, sure were some of the best days of my life. Frankie Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 I like the T&C`s too. Here is my 1948. Bought it in 1978 for $8000.00! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 I think he's talking about Charlie Olson, who owns "Plywood", the phantom woody fourdoor P15. I think he's now in Florida perhaps. Or in Phoenix area. Click for picture: Quote
