steveplym Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Wow Ed, glad you're okay. Your car took quite a hit. Makes me sick just looking at it. As others have said main thing is that your okay. I've got a few front trim pieces and a headlamp ring set, but not much else. Looks like you are getting plenty of help here already. Quote
Johnny S Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Absolutely pleased that you weren't hurt ..... very sorry about the car. But, I'm sure there are enough parts, ideas, skills, encouragement, sense of humor and just all around good stuff around your neck of the woods and this forum to bring "Spot" back to the roadways of middle America! Don Coatney Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Don not familiar with Heliopolis. Geez young Ed; I gotta splain everything to you:cool: The mythical bird named Pheonix Although descriptions (and life-span) vary, the phoenix (1940's Mopar bird) became popular in early POC studies, internet literature and POCOC symbolism, immortality, and life-after-crash. There is a certain P-15 which is called a phoenix. This is the only one of its kind, and lives a long time. And when the time of its dissolution draws near that it must die, it builds itself a nest of GO-90, SAE 10W50, carbon monixide, and other lubricants, into which, when the time is fulfilled, it enters and dies. But as the rubber tires decays a certain kind of turd is produced, which, being nourished by the juices from the radiator of the dead P-15, brings forth flatheads. Then, when it has acquired strength, it takes up that nest in which are the bones of its parent, and bearing these it passes from Minnapolis to the city called Heliopolis. And, in open day, flying in the sight of all men, it places them on the altar of the crash site, and having done this, hastens back to its former garage. The POC then inspect the registers of the dates, and find that it has returned exactly as the year it was completed. Now if you still dont believe me google Pheonix the bird.... Quote
RobertKB Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Don, that is beyond hilarious. It is extremely witty and a great analogy!! Ed, that has gotta make you want to get the old bird back on the road! Forum members, that has to prove this forum is the best! Everyone is sorry about the car, glad Ed is OK, and want to see the car back on the road, and willing to help! A sense of humour in times of trouble is essential! Quote
Young Ed Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 Oh of course I want to. Will be a project for sure. I updated my signature for her new name Quote
Robin (UK) Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Gee Ed, That's a sorry sight, but I'm glad you've walked away unhurt. Good luck with the repair/restoration/revival of your P15. Quote
Oldguy48 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Ed, So sorry about your car, and thankful you're OK. Not sure if I have any pieces & parts that will help you out, but maybe after you figure out what you need to bring "Spot" back you can post a list here. I'm pretty sure the forum members will try to help out wherever and however they can. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Sorry to hear of your collision. As others have said, be thankful you walked away from it. The car looks fixable...back in the day body guys repaired much worse damage. Keep us posted as things develop. Harold Quote
49plymouthdotcom Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Ed, sent you a pm after talking to the father in law. Geez, the whole Phoenix this was explained in that Harry Potter movie. Again, real sorry you have to go through this. The F150 must have spilled black primer all over you too. Quote
Dennis_MN Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Guys I'm sad to report that I crashed my plymouth on the way to work today. Its bad but neither driver was hurt. My plymouth is probably totaled. I can't get photobucket to upload pictures for some reason so I cant share at the moment. Worse nightmare for a old car guy. I thought about that yesterday while driving my 49 pickup around. My thought was that if you pull out with that Japanese tin, I'll roll right through it. Interesting to see the damage that you caused. Need any help, My pickup is close at hand. Dennis in Monticello Quote

I hope this does not make you tenative about driving your old iron. Motor on! FRANKIE47 PS You don't have a reverse steering wheel emblem on your chest do you?.....LOL Quote
Young Ed Posted September 19, 2008 Author Report Posted September 19, 2008 Nope so far I feel fine. Hoping I don't stiffen up overnight(no jokes please) Quote
Young Ed Posted September 19, 2008 Author Report Posted September 19, 2008 The plot thickens http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/cto/845594537.html Quote
NatesSedan Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 First...sorry about your loss. This goes through my head everytime I pull my car out. Hopefully your claims adjuster is fair. I deal alot with them and trust me when I say the sqeeky wheel gets the grease. Don't take NO from them. Unless certain words are written in your policy its not part of the contract. Get what you have been paying for. On a brighter note. I have a hood ( bondo filled by previous owner) but it wouldn't be too difficult to repair. I also have a right front fender in great shape and some misc. trim pieces. Once you hear from the insurance Co. get your list together. It looks like we could just about make a new car with the parts in this thread alone! Hope it comes back together quickly. - Nate Quote
Frank Elder Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 When I stiffen up overnite usually a 2 am trip to the head will alleviate the problem....sorry was that outloud? FRANKIE47 Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Ed, Sorry to hear about your accident. Happy to hear no one was hurt. The coupe looks fixable. We all say our cars are never really done, but I don't think it means doing it this way. Quote
55 Fargo Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Ed, sorry to hear of this bad news, and your car has been damaged. Glad to hear your okay, keep us posted on what happens to your car...........Fred Quote
Fireball Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Sad, so sad. Amazing you walked away unhurt, thats important. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Ed, If you decided to take the insurance money and change course, I found this 46 Dodge Club coupe at the Pioneer Auto Museum in Murdo, SD last Sunday. It's not restored but looks good from the point I took this picture. It's like a royal blue color. Not sure if you could really buy it, but.........the museum literature and their web site says they do auction cars, so maybe you could buy it if you called them. They also have a nice looking 48 Chrysler convertible in another building. Again it's not restored but looks good from the point I took the picture. The Dodge doesn't show up too well due to the poor lighting in the building. There was also a 46 - 48 DeSoto sitting under a lean-to. Didn't get a picture of it, but it looked like it was just pulled out of someone's barn or barnyard. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 19, 2008 Author Report Posted September 19, 2008 Thanks Norm. A convert would be nice but I'm really a plymouth guy. Now if it was a p15.... was that desoto under this lean-to? Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Ed, I like the Plymouth's best too. Don't remember seeing that Plymouth you posted. Maybe they sold it. The DeSoto wasn't in that lean-to that you show. It was across the yard on the east side. The long lean-to at the end of the buildings. It was a shallow lean-to that was only one car deep. Was sitting next to a Nash Metro. Actually not that I think of it, that Plymouth you pictured is now outside the fenced area so you can see it from the freeway. Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Young Ed; I just had a thought that may fix all your woes. Norm has been talking about selling his coupe for several years now. This could be a big chance for both you and Norm. You need to collect your insurance money and buy Norm's coupe. I am sure Norm will give you the best forum deal on his coupe in keeping with the spirit of this thread in trying to help you out. Norm's coupe is currently driveway trained only and that is another reason for Norm to further reduce the price as you will need to get the coupe road broken. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 19, 2008 Author Report Posted September 19, 2008 I like that idea. Is getting it road broken like training a wild stallion? Am I going to get tossed off a few times? I think I've been tossed around in P15s enough for a lifetime now. BTW really liked your story earlier. Quote
