  1. It's nice to see Cooper hitting on all six cylinders again.
  2. I've done well with Rock Auto in the past few years, with one exception being a radiator for my 2005 Grand Caravan. In less than a year it started leaking where the plastic side tank attaches to the core (same as the original one did). They provided another radiator and then a few extra dollars when I complained, but then I had to pay my friend again to install it. I would still deal with them again.
  3. 'BP series' probably refers to the keyway style (grooves on the sides of the key). They varied from year to year and occasionally plant-to-plant.
  4. You might want to contact Blueskies (Pete) to see if he wants leftovers. He's got one of these now.
  5. I wish mine looked that good! Here's what's sitting in my garage.
  6. What I should have said was 'wider' versus 'narrower'. There was a definite changeover during the 1950 model year. Later engines had a belt that was roughly 1/2" wide, earlier ones were 3/4". References: 1954 Mopar Parts List (check the p/n's for generator pulley, for example) and Rock Auto's 1950 Plymouth parts listings (they show two different sizes of belt). My pants have a flat belt!
  7. Looks great!
  8. Tomco makes repair fittings for carburetors. Maybe one will work for you. Here's the link: http://www.tomco-inc.com/Catalog/carb%20acc%20page%20396.pdf
  9. Plymouths had flat belts to the middle of the 1950 model year, then switched to V-belts from then on out. Maybe they felt balancing wasn't as important with a V-belt design.
  10. The two bolt holes are for puller bolts to remove the pulley from the crankshaft. There were various other pulley configurations used over the years (as you've discovered), but I don't know dates/styles. What are the two engine numbers you have? That would shed some light on the original applications.
  11. Was that picture taken on the down side of the Wurtsboro hill?
  12. Fred, Have you tried Sam's Club or Costco to see what their prices are?
  13. My Plymouths (1951-1952) have all had a reddish-orange color factory primer.
  14. Another way to check for a fake instrument is to rub it with your fingers and feel for impressions where it is printed and serrations on the edges where the stub was torn off. Also hold it to the light to look for security watermarks.
  15. My daughter once asked if a chicken coop had more than two doors would it be a sedan....
  16. I think the hose is listed in the back of the Gates catalog. It may pay to take a look.
  17. Are spouses/significant others included?
  18. There is a decent diner off exit 105 of route 17 (southern part of Monticello near Fallsburg)
  19. Randy, I understand the theory behind the roller-sand-roller approach, but the time and energy investment is huge. You can still go low-bucks with a spray gun. Harbor Freight has cheapies for $15.00, and I'll bet a 'wanted' ad in your local Craigslist or Freecycle would net you a usable compressor for little or nothing (the key to that approach is an ad worded like a story to evoke empathy....I'm sure you can make it interesting). Use newspapers for the masking, tape 'er up, and shoot some paint.
  20. Interesting project. Did Chevy ever make utes for other markets like Chrysler did?
  21. The location for the top middle bolt on 1950-52 Plymouth rear fenders is a slot so you can thread the bolt in partially and let the fender hang there while you start the rest of them. That may be where the bolt with the larger washer is used.
  22. Many good ideas already posted. I'll add one thought: Don't fall for the line of "if the shop finds additional damage after they begin repairs they can file for a supplement". Negotiate a settlement you can live with before any repairs are started.
  23. Some of it is probably NOS....New Off Shore!
  24. No more $9.99 dinners for me.......
  25. Alex, My cars are not roadworthy at this point. I stopped at the Friendly's cruise once in mid-July but didn't see a P15. If I can make it in the next few weeks I will. Harold
