  1. 4-8: Rainy morning headed to work. ?
  2. Yes! Well, no. Because once I got home THEN I got hammered. No driving ?
  3. Gyromatic is quite different than Fluid Drive. There must be a section on it here somewhere.
  4. 4-7: To work every day so far this week with the car. MGM liquor after work. Feelin' pretty good right now ?
  5. Wired as per pertronix instructions, no resistor. That's for Gyromatic cars if I'm not mistaken. Mine is Fluid Drive.
  6. Mine is set at 700, and it goes down to 450 at a stop sign without pushing the clutch in and utilizing fluid Drive. If 750 seems too low for you there could be other issues, possibly with your carburetor or any number of things like spark plugs etc.
  7. After my engine rebuild I installed pertronics. I was very happy with it for 4 years until it failed on me and blew out my muffler. Luckily I didn't get stranded anywhere but the car ran terrible. I have since completely rebuilt the distributor and put points back in. I was always afraid of distributors. There's really nothing to them. If a dummy like me can have it at top dead center and out of the car in 5 minutes, anyone can do it. I set the points on the bench and plop the distributor back in. Done! 51 Meadowbrook, Fluid Drive, 6v + ground
  8. Easter Sunday: Out for a lazy cruise with the kids around town this evening. Heat off, cowl vent open, 75F. People were out barbecuing, playing at the parks, and visiting on their lawns and porches. We got a few waves and 'hey nice car'. They got waves and honking horn in return. The Meadowbrook is running nicely and, as usual, was a great pleasure to drive.
  9. Looks great! That's very unique. Have fun today, and Happy Easter!
  10. Congrats on getting your car out! It's always exciting. That is one sweet ride. Enjoy ?
  11. Like TodFitch said, 1st and reverse aren't synchronized. I always quickly shift to 2nd then down to first (without releasing the clutch pedal) if I'm coming to a rolling stop, or even if I'm completely stopped. Keeps it from grinding. If already in 2nd gear I'll shift to neutral, then back to 2nd, then down to first. Any time I shift to reverse I'll quickly shift partially into 2nd, then reverse. As far as upshifting normally from 1st to 2nd to 3rd, after depressing the clutch I take my time shifting to the next gear, then it is smooth. If one hastily jams it into the next gear, it'll grind.
  12. 4-2: Ran errands this morning with the Meadowbrook. Stopped at the DMV to transfer the title on my 48 B1C. Then on to the chiropractor for an ankle adjustment. The secretaries there said they were admiring my car when I pulled up. I told them a bit about it. Later, out for a cruise with the kids. Stopped at Kwik Trip for coffee and donuts.
  13. 4-1: Just returned from a cruise with the kids. 2nd gear Fluid Drive from stoplights was again popular. Had to come home because the car lulled everyone into a sleepy daze ? Sure was fun!
  14. 4-1: Warming up for work. Heat on full blast; 20F ?
  15. My D has the split ring Budd type wheels. These caps are for my C. They attach with the clips, yes. It just so happens that a whole mess of extra parts that came with my D aren't even for a 1 ton, including the hubcap ?
  16. 3-29-21: My B-1-D came with a bunch of extra parts (my B-1-C did not). One of those parts was a single hubcap. I bought the other 3 on eBay. They arrived today. My son and I cleaned them up with steel wool and nothing else. I know they aren't the correct caps, but I'm going to use them. I plan on painting the red on the other 3, but to match the one with existing paint: I won't make it too pretty. I'm excited about getting them on the truck. Still waiting on the Weber carb.
  17. Friday night the wife and I finally got a chance to cruise around. First we had dinner courtesy of my boss. That was nice since we never get out. Then later we treated ourselves to DQ. Here's the Meadowbrook at rest when the night was over. Sure was fun! ?
  18. That is special. Thanks for sharing! I'd agree that it should be framed ?
  19. 3-24-21: Been driving the car to work all week. It's been raining most of the week so far, and my car leaks and is wet on the inside. After work I ran a bunch of errands and then stopped at Dairy Queen with my daughter. Then we cruised around for a while. It's always fun.
  20. No splash pans on my 51 Meadowbrook. I'll speculate two things without having any way to back either one of them up: 1. There were less asphalt roads in the 20s &30s, meaning more dirty, muddy roads messing up the underside of your car and possibly the engine bay. 2. It was a money saving thing to get rid of them later. By what year I have no idea. At least by 1951 I know that much.
  21. I watched a video quite some time ago on that 57. What a shame. Interesting though. And, I would have traveled in the back seat!?
  22. On my way to work today I noticed something I had never noticed before. When I turn my blinker on it actually makes a faint ticking sound like a blinker should. How I never heard it before today I'll never know. I've been driving the car for almost 6 years.
  23. Not sure about any clubs around these parts. Guess I've never looked into that.
  24. What an awesome thing that you actually use your truck. Thanks for sharing!!
