  1. 3-21: Out cruising with the kids. Utilized Fluid Drive often at stop signs as I had food in my right hand while we putzed around town. ? I want to organize a bi-weekly car gathering soon. I'd like to see people driving their classics around and enjoying them more. Getting together with other like-minded folks can only be a good thing.
  2. Question: This is the driver's side rear wheel. There's only 1 of those "thingys" that hold hubcaps on. The rest are broken off. Are those riveted on there? And where would I find such a piece so I can replace them and add hubcaps?
  3. I enjoy seeing these old threads revived! It was just what I needed this morning while enjoying my coffee ?
  4. 3-20: Some sunny morning patina ?
  5. 3-20-21: Out to run some errands last night and to do a little cruising. Heater on low. ?
  6. I use a Fram C134PL filter which comes with a rubber gasket. I've gone against what should be logical and have reused the first rubber gasket I had put in there years ago with every oil change since. It's never leaked. Not sure if my canister is the same as yours...same engine though. Might be worth checking into.
  7. Recently acquired 48 B-1-C
  8. What I like to see is NO phones! Thanks for sharing; awesome pics ?
  9. Hey everyone, Quick question. Is there a vacuum port on my intake manifold, or somewhere else that I can use for setting the timing? Damn if I can find it. On my car it's on top of the intake towards the firewall. I must be blind ?
  10. I just pulled a set of sooty J11s out of my 48 B1C. They were rusty and had been in there for some time. Replaced with NGK BR6S. The J11s looked horrible, but it has to be my b&b carb that helped get them that way.
  11. I need to listen to my intuition more. It tells me to yank off that Ball&Ball and do something else. Especially tonight after I had a nasty carb fire. Luckily nothing burned up. The PO did rebuild it, not sure what went wrong. I don't think I did any better of a job rebuilding the one on my B1D as it has problems too. So.... suggestions please on a replacement. I'm all ears. I guess I'm unsure about the 32/36 like I put on my Meadowbrook, mainly because of linkage differences. I suppose I'll call Landon's on Monday. Anyone running a 32/36 on their truck?
  12. 3-13: That plate looks much better huh? ?
  13. 3-13-21: Out screwing around, finding out a bit more about the truck. Seems my eye isn't so good...plugs were OLD and beyond black. I put some used ones in after a brass brush cleaning; much better. With this ball and ball carb it seems to like a partial choke...much like my other truck. I messed with the idle mixture a bit to no avail. I'll probably have to check the timing as well for sure. Otherwise runs and drives good. A friend of mine welded up the worst of the exhaust leaks.
  14. I'm not a huge fan of the grain door, but I'm happy that there is a tailgate. PO did a very nice job on the wood bed (white or red oak), but I don't like the chrome strips. Not sure if there's a way I can dull them down. Not all the paint seems to be original as parts of the box look like a paint brush had its way at some point. Certainly the spare tire mount is home-made. Strangely enough I kinda like that. ?
  15. In the first picture we had already taken the tie down straps off, so don't be alarmed! It was strapped down perfectly thanks to a friend of mine.
  16. Pics....
  17. 3-12-21: Yep, you read it right...the B-1-C! Still have my B-1-D, but picked up this '48 B-1-C today about 2 1/2 hours away. The guy I bought it from did all the dirty work: got it running good, restored the interior, new wood bed, new tires, new brakes all the way around with lines and a master cylinder, and left the original paint on the outside. It's not perfect as there is a little bit of rust, but overall I'm very happy with it. As you can tell there's lots of bumps and bruises, but that's the way I like them. I will drive it to work and be able to work on my other one in peace! ? I'm super tired from the trip over there and back, which by the way my 96 f150 with 228,000 mi performed flawlessly. I didn't have one single problem. I'll post some pictures for now, but will give you more updates tomorrow. ?
  18. I love that car. There's a simpleness to it that's somehow calming. Congrats on getting it out, and thanks for sharing ?
  19. No, everything is still lying on the floor. The drums are off and the axles are apart. Brake shoes and accessories are still hanging there. But I'm making progress. I'm slow but that's the way it is for now. ?
  20. March 9, 2021: My son and I removed the brakes and components from the passenger side front tonight. I had to grind off one of the cotter pins, but thankfully after that I was able to get the castle nut loose. Everything is pretty dirty of course. This time I took notes! ? Tomorrow night we'll see about cleaning up all of this mess. Sorry no pics this time.
  21. 3-7-21: Out cruising around. Taking her to work tomorrow AM. Back on day shift.
  22. Awesome! Get Jane going and drive!!?
