  1. They will fir BUT Ford used a larger lug nut and while you can use them on the right hand side, they were never available with left hand thread.
  2. It should all fit. The 230 engine has an eight hole flywheel. Check the starter for full engagement if you choose to use the earlier flywheel.
  3. Birthday or not, you are older today than you ever have been ! Congratulations on the car.
  4. My engine is a 251 purchased newly rebuilt and in a crate with military gear on it. Redressed it in civilian clothes including a Spitfire Head. Runs really strong.
  5. First three responses, all canucks..... I thought this was The Great White North ! dp Nobody can beat Worden though with his Meadowbrook except mayne Bob with his 40.
  6. I have been using my 52 Fargo just about every day. Engine is breaking in nicely and the overdrive makes it a pleasure to drive. The mileage which stood at a documented 57800 when I got the truck will pass 60 000 today. ( the mileage is about the only original item on the truck.) I have had the 50 Plymouth out. needs a wash but that won't make it run any better. Spring is springing here on the wet coast.
  7. I would recommend The Plymouth Owners' Club. Excellent publication.
  8. Is the engine attached to a Fluid Torque drive? If that is the case, the pump requires a cover with the bypass valve built into it. The rest of the pump is the same as all gyrotor pumps and the cover could be transferred to the regular pump. If the engine is attached to a standard transmission or to a regular Fluid Drive then the plain cover pump can be used. The SPITFIRE letters were most often found on 49 engines.
  9. Try to find tank unit Mopar 2240729 as described above. It works on single wire circuits as used in 37.
  10. Tank unit  Mopar # 2240729  works for me on single wire circuits such as 1937

  11. I cannot see what harm would be done, if the cylinders are oiled up, to put a battery in it and turn it with the starter.
  12. my choice would be a 54 or 55 Powerflite from a six cylinder car with the lever shift which could be connected to the column shifter. Some sort of throttle position linkage would also be needed. There is a kit out there which will allow a GM 350 trans to be attached but I am not sure what can be done about the rear engine mounts. Also, you might consider a hand control for the clutch. There was a 52 Chrysler around here which worked out very well for the owner. I cannot supply a picture but I do know that there were many such arrangements following WW2 which enabled disabled vets to drive cars which were at that time mostly standard shift. Such an apparatus could be used for the clutch only.
  13. It will actually work better than the IGS. better advance curve.
  14. Just a ground at the tank. If you use a test light, it will glow and the gauge might read 1/4. Chrysler offered a fuel sender designed for auxiliiary tanks which, after shortening the float arm will work your gauge perfectly. The part number is no longer listed but I can look it up for you if you send me a PM. There must be a whole bunch of them out there still since they were still available well into the 90s.
  15. with the starting jaw, 1 13/16 without 1 11/16 The hole in the middle goes nowhere , does nothing.
  16. I was led to believe that bastard was a term of endearment in your part of the world or maybe I was in bad company. Owyergoinmate ? dp
  17. every one I have ever seen was painted the original body colour and I have been involved with these cars since the mid 50s,
  18. HyDrive was 53 and 54 only. dp
  19. The blocks carried over the ability to be connected to a HyDrive . Some had the casting boss for the return line but were not drilled.
  20. Just as the man says.
  21. It looks like your car has been immersed in salt water at some time. Frames are essentially the same 49 to 52 for the sedans.
  22. If I had to coat it at all I would spray on the coating used for rocker panels then top coat it with what PA suggested or a satin black. I dealt with a car that had that tarry goo that was applied back in the 50s all over the engine ! Not deliberately applied, just careless. It served only one purpose for me and that was to indicate that nobody had opened up the engine before.
  23. The tank unit in my 52 Fargo was hopelessly ruined. I had a nos tank unit for a 54 Plymouth so I cut the float arm from it and from my 52 Fargo. I welded the float arms together so it matched what the truck needed. My gauge now works perfectly. If fate intervenes I will eventually get another 54 Plymouth which will (of course) need a tank unit. Removal of the inner cover often knocks off the resistance cone which is well nigh impossible to repair.
  24. 12 volt lighter sockets are smaller diameter compared to 6 volt. The six volt lighter works about four times as fast on 12 volts but then who needs a lighter in their car anymore ? If you need it as a power supply you will have to substitute a 12 volt socket to fit your device.
  25. only if it is a D25 and even those are different from Plymouth.
