  1. Looks good! On that fan, try it and see how you like it. If you do alot of stop and go driving, it should be good to go. It is an industrial fan. IT moves a ton of air but is fairly noisy. If you spend more open road time, I would probably use the 4 blade unit off your other engine.
  2. I have the bottom one and it’s pretty good.
  3. I used factory hemi motor mounts and then welded on the frame brackets to match. The early poly and hemis had a front mount stock, but I could never find one. In the rear I used the factory V8 bell housing that mounts the rear of the engine on the cross member. If it was a stock L6 truck, the crossmember unbolts and moved forward about 6 inches to the next set of holes. The transmission just hangs off the bell housing with no additional mounts just like the factory L6 setup.
  4. I'm gonna have to agree with Dave72, Rockauto is just a vendor not the manufacturer. I have ordered for Rockauto dozens on times with no issues. However, when it comes to brake cylinders and master cylinders, I have bought from some of the board recommended vendors and had issues with both parts. Unfortunately it seems to be the nature of some of the replacemnt parts. One of the reasons I upgraded to disc brakes and a dual master
  5. I run 5 point harnesses in both of my sand cars. I cant imagine wanting them in a street driven vehicle. They have to be very snug to be effective which really restricts movement (like rolling down the passenger window, cowl vent or adjusting the radio) versus self retracting car belts or lap belts.
  6. The Cherokee M/C doesnt work with a C series. You need the flat master cylinder style piston. Instead of the one with the rod sticking out of it like the Cherokee... I tried it a few years back and then bought the Corvette style from Speedway. You can even pick different piston sizes.
  7. I have used the Scarbird kit with good results. I made a simple plate and used a Corvette dual master cylinder in the stock location along with the correct proportioning valve.
  8. It has all sorts of "character" marks. The bumper is straight... just a little scrape on the corner. The picture is a bit misleading and does look that way once I look at it again.
  9. Looks like I havent put an updated photo on this thread since 2017. Here is the most recent pic... Will have more at Viva in April.
  10. I flat towed my 55 pickup home from Oregon (700+ miles) and last year towed it over 200 miles each way to Vegas since I was having oil pressure issues. Just left her in neutral and rolled down the freeway.
  11. Just stick with 54 on everything and you will be fine. 53 is a whole different truck...
  12. If it's a runner, swap it in and run it! Start putting together a rebuild fund for the future. Once you open up the 259 or the 315, they can be fairly expensive to rebuild depending the condition of the pistons, crank and cam. The 315 pistons are the only thing reproduced, but in a miserable 7.0:1 configuration from Egge. I had 9.5:1 pistons made for my 325 and had the cam reground.
  13. So is it a 315 or 318? The 315 poly or hemi will bolt in place of your 259 and would be a nice upgrade. You could keep your column shift r speed and bell housing too. If it's a 318, I am not sure. Hopefully somebody else knows about that engine.
  14. JB is correct. Stick with ordering parts for a 54 on everything. I have a 55 C1B and just found that easier.
  15. If you search the board, there are quite a few threads on putting the longer engine in. Doesnt look all that difficult. However, is that just a long block for sale? You will still need manifolds at a minimum. I am not sure of what else will swap over. If I was starting with a fresh engine, i would add an upgraded cam shaft as well as dual exhaust and intake. With that being said, what about finding an early V8? The 54 was the first year with a V8 and they aren't that hard to swap in.
  16. Sound like you need to read my thread on lowering so that bad boy will fit in your garage with its tires on!
  17. Another thing to note if doing the pinion seal besides the possible need for a speedi sleeve is different vendors offer different types of seals for that. Some have leather like stock and others have the newer neoprene style which I prefer. But of course material is your choice.
  18. Must be heavier than the 230. With the same tranny etc, she rides about an inch lower up front with the Hemi.
  19. Wow! I knew my 325 was heavy when I installed it and such, but that’s a bit more than I thought.
  20. After replacing the bell housing gasket and scrubbing it many times, I have decided that my tranny is NOT leaking... it just requires external lubrication.
  21. I really like your new seat. I will have to add some extra stitching to mine when I get it redone. Looks better than the old bus seat look. (Mine was actually owned by the school district for many years and the bottom of the seat has that ugly green/brown school bus upholstery)
  22. Your gonna have to find a bigger castle so you have room to work!
  23. I guess it depends on how big the trailer is. A modern truck would have better suspension, drivetrain and brakes to help with the heavier load. I also think about the legal aspect. If you were to get into an accident and for example the truck is rated for 6k lbs and the trailer is 10k, I believe you would be liable even though you were not at fault. But then again, that might depend on state. So how much does this trailer weigh and how much is a 53 3/4 ton rated at?
  24. I have never personally taken the front clip off of mine. My dad did it once and removed it as one piece. I wish I could be of more help.
  25. I used a press to push them in, but you can pull them in with the nut also.
