Looks pretty complete and original. I would keep an eye on the classified board for parts and craigslist and Ebay of course.

Yup... that’s exactly what I did.

I found the easiest solution for this old problem. Since you need either a new front bearing retainer of the right size or a car throw out arm which is probably just as hard to find, I had something fabbed up instead. My machinist made me a nice press in oilite bushing for the throw out bearing. Those should work just fine and might help somebody else down the road.

This ought to fix my car/truck throwout bearing issue until I can get my new tranny. My machinist made me a nice oilite bushing that will adapt the two pieces and keep me from tearing up bearings. I found this a while back and had another thread on it, but just got around to fixing it. Besides this I just need to finish tuning the truck and give the push rods another half turn. I only went a half turn off zero and they are noisy.

I found a fitted mat on ebay that fit much better. Unfortunately, I cant seem to find the link now.

Cant seem to get a video up, but she is running and break in is completed. Now just to get her tuned in and a sleeve made for the throw out bearing.

Weather permitting, tomorrow I can adjust the valve lash and set her back in her home. Did quite a bit of trimming for port matching on the intake gaskets. I was surprised how much the Best gaskets overhung into the ports.

1953 Dodge - What have I got into

I posted a link to it after you asked the other day. But I keep forgetting yours is older than mine. The radiator I have is for a 54+. I am not sure if it would work for you -

I put Flowmaster 10 series on my hemi... might be a bit noisy on the highway. -
More build up completed today... but ended up with 15 of the correct hydraulic lifters and 1 incorrect one in the right box. Summit is sending me a replacement. Hopefully I can get it mostly finished this week after work.

It's a custom regrind with 278 duration and 435 lift. Should be plenty peppy and lopey.

Long story short, the "new" timing set that came with the engine isn't giving me the timing I want. The top gear is an Edelbrock made by Cloyes and the lower 9 way gear cannot be identified by either group. Today I will install a new billet Cloyes unit and see where I get.

Is the 518 a good trans with available aftermarket? I don’t have 500hp, but don’t want a transmission I have to baby either.

It's two bolts in the front and two in the back. I use a strip of blue masking tape on the inside edge of the hoods where they touch the center section when folded up. I have removed and installed by myself a handful of times.

Any insight on the A518? Sounds like it will bolt up to a 727 adapter and keep her all Mopar.

Whats the point of the fancy digital gauge? Is it something you need to look at often? I would hide that since it looks like it should be in a Honda with a big wing and a fart can exhaust pipe. ? -

I also found an aluminum radiator replacement that was much larger on ebay if you still need more cooling. It's for the factory V8 and fits with just a bit of trimming and a small extension to the hoses since it mounts further forward. -

Great find! I searched for a long time to find the little emblems under the headlights which arent reproduced by the way. The only downside of your great find is the missing lower grill bar. If you had both chrome center trim pieces for the grill bars, they would of been worth a ton of cash to the 54-56 guys! Cant wait to see it cleaned up and installed!
