  1. after taking a bunch of time off from working on the truck (I chose to walk away for a while), I threw open the shop door and got busy again today. The first thing I did was to un-suicide the right door and put it back the way it was (one of the reasons I stopped working on it... I hated it and just couldn't bring myself to do the other). I had found a pair of doors on Ebay and bought them for little of nothing, gave the drivers door to one of our members for the cost of shipping it from the ebay location to his home. I used the other one to restore the door back to its proper hinged location. Since the suicided door was chopped to match the roof,I just measured and cut the frame off the old door and new door and welded the chopped section back on. Should be finished with that tomorrow night. The 318 is mostly together and the engine is mounted, I need to take the cab off and build a trans mount. Then I will get the exhaust built and get the motor in running condition. Lots to do, but the wife says I need to have her driving it by next summer....
  2. not on that trip, but she has been on numerous trips this summer and maybe another this weekend. I installed a hitch on the 49 Plymouth and we took her to a couple of rod run/campouts too. She is a keeper.
  3. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!! Tim, you're my hero.
  4. happy to be of help.

  10. I believe the one he was looking for was the one with the threaded end and I sent him one in the mail.
  11. Good luck with that. The privacy laws are sooo much tighter these days, you might not get too far, but always worth a shot
  12. cripes, now THATS a busy schedule.....
  13. took a pic, but never connected with the owner. Nice truck as you can see. Does anyone know the owner? It's a canadian rig. threw in a pic of my plymouth too just for the fun of it. Bud
  14. Mine is on a 91 Dodge Dakota frame, it really is an ez swap in my opinion, but I made it more complicated by channeling it over the frame and using the dakota floorboards. There is a great place on the dakota frame right behind the cab that is great for shortening the frame to size.
  15. you might measure out an early dodge dakota club cab/long box. It might just fit the bill.
  16. In the ad, he mentions the "nasty looking spark plug wires"..... they might be the best selling feature on the truck....:D:eek:
  17. I just did the same thing to my 49 Plymouth to tow our shasta compact trailer around with. Works like a gem. Bud
  18. Tom, what a fantastic looking truck! I know that I will need to get the passport renewed and make another trip up your way to see it again. I restored the stainless on my 49 Plymouth and would be happy to give you some tips on how to do yours. It's a great winter job. Time consuming and painstaking, but well worth it. Bud
  19. Something I found helpful before I did the chop on my late 49 Plymouth was to take a bunch of side photos and chop the pictures to scale with an exacto knife. There are numerous ways to chop each vehicle, but normally only one way that looks asthetically correct. With my 49 club coupe, I ended up taking out 4 inches from the roof and shortening the body and the frame to meet the roof. No other way looked right. just my 2 cents..... Bud
  20. well, Rob, I am goin fishin for a couple of weeks, send me your address and I will get it to ya as soon as I get back. Bud
  21. Rob, PM me with your address before friday night and I will send it to you no charge. I will be gone for 2 weeks starting saturday on an extended fishing trip/vacation. Bud
  22. front res was still full, the rear was empty. this is a 4 drum brake system. Is it possible that the guy who did the brakes plumbed it wrong???
  23. when I put in the new brake line and bled it, I jacked up the side and checked. The front brakes hold as solid as the rears.
  24. got one in my hot little hands right now just waiting for you.
