  1. I love it. Start em young to keep this hobby going!! Good Job
  2. no heater, shop door open and thermals with a hoodie. brrrrrrr
  3. got the Dakota firewall completely welded in and the rest of the metal shaped and welded for the recessed master cylinder and fabricated the pedal swing brackets. Lifted the cab off the frame and got ready to start pulling the torqueflite to get it to the trans shop for the rebuild. Had more fun today than was legally allowed.....:D:D

  8. P.S. If you notice, the original ad says "Two tone Burgundy and Black Paint". now, THATS funny. :D:D
  9. nice truck, but did ya notice the drivers door does not match? lighter shade.
  10. my 53 currently being worked on. top is chopped, had the doors suicided, but did not like the safety issue so I reversed the process and made them stock again, it sits on a 91 Dodge Dakota frame with a 68 318 and a torqueflite in it.
  11. hank, pm me your e mail address and I will send you more pictures than you will probably want. Bud
  12. I have a 318 and a dakota frame in my 53. If I had to do over again, I would have gone for a 360
  13. Yup, freaking awesome is right
  14. I'm into mine over 2 years with no end in site, although my wife wants to drive it next summer..... we will see. My 49 Plymouth took 13 years to get to the point of making it a driver, thought it would only take a year. Keep everything in perspective and you will be alright. I found there are more important things than a deadline.....
  15. I got the front pulleys, alternator and power steering pump off the 69 satellite, painted them up and I FINALLY have the front of the motor together. Next step is the exhaust.
  16. I wonder what it weighs when it goes over the "scales"..... hahahahahahaha:D
  17. formally named Richard Cranium...... a guy I used to work with once told a co worker he needed a window in his stomach... since he had his head so far up his hiney it would help him see where he was going...
  18. you are both in the same state..... trade cabs, lots less work...
  19. boy, the headaches just never end with this motor. I found out that a motorhome motor like my 1968 318 is more of a different bird than I ever imagined. Not only were the heads and intake different (water heated instead of exhaust), but the water pump placement (via the timing cover) is different, got all that changed out, went to put on all the pulleys and front accessories and brackets only to find out that THEY are all different too. crud!!! so I went and put an ad on craigslist asking if anyone had a complete 318 with all the brackets, accessories, pulleys, ect, so I could get a complete matching set. Fortunately a gentleman about 20 miles away from me has a 69 Satellite that has all I need and still on the engine so I can even take pix to make sure all goes back the same way. I will get them this upcoming weekend. Just another small blip on the radar screen of life.... at least I now have the heads, intake, rockers and manifolds on the motor. some progress is better than none
  20. you should find that this will be one of the easier swaps. I used the front of the floor and the firewall from the dakota as the firewall had to be set back for mine.
  21. welcome home, thank you more than you will ever know and a hearty welcome to the forum
  22. Yep, ya done good
  23. now THAT would be great!! If the timing was right, maybe I could even talk you into helping me get the truck started for the first time. I have an extra bedroom available anytime you need it. I will be in Agora Hills, Calif the first week of October for some classes for work. How far away from there are you? Your Bonneville trip was amazing, color me green with envy. :D:D
