  1. You may want to look for a westcoast door if you can find one to save yourself some work. It looks like the lip that attaches the outer skin to the inner panel is gone in a critical area. Not impossible to fix, but time consuming to say the least. After you get the damaged material cut out it looks like you'll have to make an elongated L shaped piece to go the bottom legnth of the door. I'd used the metal bonding if that is what you decide to do as it does two things. 1-it will bond the 2 pieces, and 2 unlike welding it will provide a sealed seam with will make your repair much more permanent. Mike
  2. Camera dried out enough today to allow me to harvest the few that I took. Here's the group pic of Dutch, Dave, and I, and a link to the rest that I took. Check the ATCA website in the near future for pics of this years' event. Here's the link to what I took before my camera drowned. Do ya think Dave's non de plume fits? http://news.webshots.com/album/573111777MgqTIl?start=0
  3. There was a fellow at Macungie this past weekend-JW Auto. 610-927-4622. He had weather stripping and some other restoration supplies for sale-he may also have the channel. There was another vendor there right across from him that had various sizes in tubes, but I can't remember his name. Retoration Supply may also have as would a glass shop? Mike
  4. Welcome. I've got a 49 1 ton with a floor shifted 3 speed that was original to the truck. There really isn't a whole lot go be gained unless you want the creeper gear of the 4 speed. The highest gear in both the 3 and 4 speed is 1:1. You need to change the bell housing if you go from a 3 to a 4 speed or vice versa. Good luck with your project. Mike
  5. Parking light housings for the 51-53 style? tx-Mike
  6. Yes it was good to finally meet Dave and hook up again with Dutch. Funny thing- I was watching the entrance to the park and you couldn't confuse either of these guys as they pulled into the park! GB's pickup was just as he described it (well actually it was even nicer), and Dutch's rig with the long trailer with two of his vehicles was unmistakeable. The other PH that was there for sale belongs to Stanley Young of northern Maine. He has 4 of these that he transports all over the country to shows on a 40's IH KB12 that he has converted to Mack power. He and his son were both there-had lunch w them on Friday. Said he drove 450 miles hauling 24000 lbs of antique trucks to get stuck in the mud and was having a great time! We had a good visit, and took some quick photos. The weather was exactly as GB described it. There was the 3rd annual family cookout up in the back of the park on Friday night. I had a couple barleypops with Dutch and found out a little more about him-very interesting background. I'll post the pics we took as soon as my camera dries out!
  7. There's an old driver's ed movie (Signal 31) that I saw in high school that shows the scene of a fatal accident with a PH truck-that may have also involved a train.
  8. Reg-I would imagine that the ones mounted on the headlights are to replace the parking lights he lost when he converted the headlights to sealed beams-same lights as on my Plymouth-but I'm going back to the original reflectors and lenses as soon as I find a 12v bulb to fit. It was a good show-tomorrow the little green Dodge heads to Macungie-there will be pics on our website probably starting tomorrow night. antiquetruckclub.org on the discussion board tab until we get them moved to the gallery. Mike
  9. Willis-there was a long thread on this awhile ago that should answer any of your questions. I know that both the internally and the externally bypass style pumps are available through NAPA and probably most other automotive chains. Check out the attached link, and see which type you need. Mike http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/search.php?searchid=228184
  10. Wow those parking lamp housings here in the East are like hen's teeth. That is sweet looking Reg. Mike
  11. I've got a grill crossbar endpiece that is original (somewhere). The truck it came from was a dark green, and the striping is yellow. I'll see if I can find it and post a pic. Mike
  12. I'll throw something out here. Neither my 52 1 ton, or my parts truck even have a vacuum advance, but my 36 Plymouth, and Worthington Golf Chief Tractor (Chrysler industrial 6 powered)do. I know from first hand experience on small engine that point gap is critical. A worn set of points will slowly decrease in gap to where it will run w/o any power. Just resetting the point gap in a Kohler will make it run like a different engine. I'm sure the same applies here. Mike
  13. I wouldn't count on that solving the problem. What might work better is swapping the springs side for side so that the higher spring is moved to the left side. My 52 1 ton has a 3/4" lean to the passenger side in the front. When I did the king pins, I used neverseize in all the fasteners. Since I had several sets of springs, I took the old one out with and laid it along side the others. The arch in one of my spares was about 1" higher than the one I took out. So I put that spring in and let it down-still has the same lean in the same direction. Tires are the same size on the front but she's gonna stay that way. Probably sits level w me in the seat! Mike
  14. Merle-I'll post a link to pics in one of my albums, and they'll definitely be on the club website with a bunch of others. This is Disneyland and Six Flags and Mecca to truckin' nuts! Hope to hook up with you maybe next year. Dutch generously offered to take my PH down for me, but I'm going to take my 78 Dodge pickup this year. Next yr if you can make it from Ohio, I ougta have the truck in shape to make it from here in NY state. I've got a lot less hectic schedule next summer so if it takes an extra day or to to make the sojourn-so be it! Life is best at 45 miles an hour! Mike
  15. Dutch, Dave and any other guys that will be there. How about we hook up at wherever Dave's truck is on Sat at 10am for a group picture? Mike
  16. I'm pretty sure Graybeard is going to be there with his PH, and there is a blue PH pickup that last a couple of yrs ago went to the ATHS show in Colorodo (under its own power), and I saw a pic of it at their show this year in Huntsville, Alabama a couple of weeks ago. There's usually a couple of more PH trucks there too. We ought to get together and take a PH junkie photo in front of 1 of the trucks on Fri or Sat. Jeez, now that we're getting this PH movement underway I'm gonna have to start fighting guys for parts in the truck flea market! Let's set a time for us all to get together and hunt up a truck to take the picture-I'm thinking GB's truck would make an excellent backdrop. Mike
  17. Join us on the 19th in Veteran's Memorial Park in Macungie, PA (6 miles south of Allentown) for the 30th Annual Antique Truck Club of America truck show. All vehicles 25 yrs and older welcomed. Huge truck related flea market all weekend. Last year there were almost 550 trucks on display and preregistration is even higher this year than in the past! Hope to see you there-check us out at:http://www.antiquetruckclub.org/
  18. GB-I did the same with the manifold in my 36 Plymouth last year-but had a much easier time. Got the gaskets from Roberts. Mike
  19. Mike-welcome to the forum. I too have a 1 ton stake and share your pain with the speed limitations. You may want to check your speedo with a newer vehicle. I thought mine was running about 40, but she's actually closer to 47 mph according to my wife's car which means I can run 50 comfortably! I'm running a 4/3 rear ratio and I gotta tell ya, when I take it to cruise ins it gets a lot of attention. Its usually the only PH there. Coming home on back roads running 40-45 on a cool summer night makes for a nice relaxing ride. Got any pictures you can post? Mike F
  20. I thought you had to cross through the Pearly Gates to see that kinda stuff-what a find! I like the 1 ton pickup ALOT. Mike
  21. I think that's why I like this hobby-I like the way things used to be. Traveled at 45 mph and we were happy. You could do business on a handshake or you didn't do business with that person. That's too bad about the bumper-but what goes round comes round. He'll try that game with the wrong person some day........
  22. Anyone remember going to a show or cruise with your MoPar truck and they'd put you in the back some you were some type of ugly stepchild? Now you're starting to see rows of MoPars commercial vehicles of various vintages. I think we've started a movement-let's keep the momentum going! Mike
  23. Way to Go Merle!
  24. Don-this '53 has the babbited rods-and its the original engine-the car has been in the family since new. 54 was the first year for the fully pressurized 235 in the std transmissions at least in the passenger car series. I'd do a swap because I like the pressurized system, but this one is staying all original. Mike
