  1. That's hilarious !!! Nothing like quality control, eh? Somehow, I don't think I'd trust that wrench with very much torque.
  2. Get some panel cement at an auto supply and glue it on.
  3. Attach the remote switch to the end of a two foot long stick.
  4. Put a ping pong ball over the #1 plug hole.
  5. Start by disconnecting the two shifter rods at the transmission levers. Move the trans levers to the neutral position. Put the top lever at the the point where the spring behind it just contacts it, but don't push it any further. Put the column lever in neutral. Back under the car, adjust the rods so they fit into the trans levers without moving the levers or the shifter. That should get you pretty close to what you want.
  6. 90% of all Jaguars made are still on the road. The rest made it home alright.
  7. You're doing great work, keep it up. Mortite is the name of the rope caulk I have used, cheap easy to use, lasts forever. That's a very good looking car.
  8. Have you looked down the bore with the choke wide open to make certain that the throttle plate is closed tight when the idle speed screw is backed away from its seat? Make certain nothing is binding or blocking the linkage.
  9. I am curious about what the in-line fuse was for? Why would it blow? The clock?
  10. Depends on whether the points were open or closed while the ignition was on. Other than burning the points, I don't think any damage would be done.
  11. I took the cork off the arm and replaced it with a plastic one from a newer sending unit I rescued from a dumpster by a local garage. Works great.
  12. San Francisco?
  13. That's cool! If you're gonna have a truck, have a real truck.
  14. I believe it goes on top of the frame right under the upper control arm to keep it from hitting.
  15. I am amazed! 93%! 39 of 42. I guess I am more familiar with weird stuff than normal things. That's what people tell me, anyway. I had a 55 Chevy PU. It was called the "first series". I made a trailer out of it.
  16. Welcome! The 55 is one of my very favorite Plymouths. Good to see another one on the road.
  17. I would not assume there was any difference at all in the heads. You can compare the shape of the combustion cambers to see if there has been any extreme shaving done.
  18. A car for all seasons.
  19. Sounds like their guardian angels were on the job. Seat belts and air bags prove their worth.
  20. That gasket is for pre-50, (I think), engines that have an external bypass from the WP to the head. The gasket on the right is for the later engines that have an internal bypass. Someone just got the wrong gasket on that block. Check to see that the head matches the block with or without the water passage.
  21. I have the Rockauto pump and it's been doing alright for about a year now. I have an electric pump at the tank outlet. The mechanical pump pulls though electric one very well.
  22. Take the spark plugs out.
  23. Turn it over by pushing the fan belt and turning the fan.
  24. OK, the tube is there to provide a pathway for the horn wire to get through the gearbox. It keeps the gear lube in the box while holding open the wire passage. The top of the tube is above the level of the gear lube so you can fill the box and still not have it drain out through the tube.
  25. 56 everything is 12 volts.
