  1. Those wires look a little too close for comfort also. Could you just replace the rubber section with metal from the tank up to the end of the line at the top of the rubber section? Then just use a 2" piece to connect the two metal lines.
  2. Well, here goes another thread off on a tangent. The Amish here in Indiana are firm believers that they "Are in this world, but not of this world". They use this logic to remain "disconnected" to the world around them. This means not becoming a part of anything public or used for the general population. Besides the common utilities, it also includes things like insurance plans, schools, and in some cases taxes. They send their children to public schools in places where there aren't enough to warrant their own school, but the state does This doesn't mean Amish cannot use electricity in some communities. Most Amish have electric lights and even sump pumps. Most use electn't require them to go beyond ric water supply systems. Their buggies have been ordered to use lights by the state. All of these systems are 12 battery powered. The local papers are always running ads for charger time sales. I have seen communities in Pennsylvania that were allowed by their local bishop to use generators to power their entire farms and workshop factories. I could easily go off on a religious tangent here, so, I quit.
  3. Thats fun! Do it again!
  4. My Grandpa told me a story about a car he was traveling in when a babbitt rod bearing pounded itself out. I recall him saying," I took off my belt and cut a piece off the end, wrapped it around the crank and put the rod back on. It got us home". I doubt it was a Ford because he was a big car fan in the teens and twenties.
  5. I enjoy watching people work that really know what they're doing. They make it look so easy, when I know it isn't. I get the same feeling when I look at the cars on this forum that everyone has built.
  6. My Dad bought a '48 Plymouth Special DeLuxe in '50 with low miles. At 82,000 and it was just about done. I remember going to Florida in it as a kid. After that,he bought a 53 Cambridge Club Sedan from a tiny little school teacher. It had practically no miles on it. Again, at 82,000 it was passed down to us kids and it was just about completely worn out. My Dad was a very gentile driver, but didn't do much if any maintenance. At the time a car with 100,000 miles on it was something of a miracle.
  7. I see a right side vent window lock,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  8. Well, this is where I quit. Detail is a little less than perfect, but overall, I'm pretty happy with it.
  9. Yeah, you'd think he would be driving a Lincoln. On his way to Ford's theater. Hope he can Dodge a small Caliber bullet. Sorry.
  10. Well, Don, it looks like you've got a picture you can really work with now. "The Groaning Pony".
  11. Yer jest not gonna let that picture die, are ya Don? LOL.
  12. Show us the pictures. One of the best features of this forum is all the "virtual" car shows we get to go to. Imagine all the cars we don't get to see. C'mon, don't hold back. Play nice and share with your playmates.
  13. I PROTEST !!!! That dog has stolen my necktie idea !
  14. "Another day to play"
  15. When that happened to me it turned out to be a dirty battery post. It wasn't really dirty, but it had that hard, dark, finish to it that I think is a kind of hardened corrosion. I scraped the post and the clamp and it hasn't done it again. That was last year, so I have to guess that was the problem. It would pass enough juice to turn on the lights, but not enough to pull the starter solenoid in.
  16. i'm sorry Westtexas, I cannot explain why I thought you were in Finland. I'm having more senior moments lately. I am still impressed by your car though. It's a real piece of history.
  17. Amazing, a town sedan and its in Finland. They get all the good stuff!
  18. Uhhhhh, Joe, why do you want to know?
  19. Ah yes, all the fireworks stands along US 41, Crazy Charlie's just past the Kentucky border, I remember.
  20. Its the dash light dimmer switch. Some have 3 positions; off, dim, and bright. Some are on or off.
  21. I understand thats the way to do it, but I just don't like it. I spent 40 years heating metal to soften it and I guess I just never will get comfortable with it.
  22. I can understand how someone going by the name of "Fireball" would be speechless at the concept of an expaning foam car body ! The license plate should say "NO SMOKING".
  23. I understand that I am probably over-cautious, and yes, I consider it a very good thing that I have never had to drive a frame repaired car. As far as those twin I-beam things go,,,,,, thats a furd and I don't have anything to do with those anyway. LOL
  24. Your toe in is supposed to be about 1/8", I think. That means they are 1/8" closer together at the front of the wheel than at the back. I must add here that being a bit if a worrier, I don't think I would want a tie rod that had been straightened with the use of heat. I would be afraid it would be softened to the piont of being weak and prone to bending again if you bumped the curb or a nasty pot-hole. Just my waryness speaking.
