I used Mike's Carburetor rebuild kit and it has everything you need (http://www.carburetor-parts.com/). Also, he has a great 2-part step by step video (on his site and on youtube) that walks you through everything. In terms of cleaning your carb, I suggest Simple Green as it's cheap and biodegradable.

Great job Keith. I had a similar day yesterday. I was in need of a rear package tray and drove out to a salvage yard that has a '54 Dodge 4D. I'd already picked the car last year, but figured what the heck. Well, the car still had it's package tray (score) and I also picked off a blinker lense, rearview mirror, and trunk gasket. Congrats again on your find!

Any updates Rich? Also, swap meet is better between the Hersey Fall meet and Carlisle Fall meet? I went to Hersey a few years back and was a little disappointed bc I had a hard time finding anything I needed. At that time I was looking for 1950 Chevy parts. Most of what I saw was pre-war (Ford) stuff. Is either show good for P15D24 parts? Thanks. Dave

As an FYI, I found new 12" wiper blades that fit great on my '54 Dodge Meadowbrook. Got them from Napa for $10.49/wipers. They are aftermarket; however, if your car is a driver it might be a good solution.

Quick update. After investigating a few thing from various recommendations I found a wire had fallen out of the dimmer switch. So I pulled off the switch, cleaned the terminals on the switch and wires, cleaned a few other things up, reinstalled and presto, the headlights now work. Seems like it’s a small win; however I needed it as several other fix it projects have lingered on the whole summer. Anyway, thanks all for your input. Dave

I have both tail lights and brake lights both. I am wondering if this means my switch is working?
-
LazyK. Parking lights have never worked. That said, when I turn on the switch my rear brake lights do work. I'll check the dimmer switch which might have been disturbed earlier this year when I put in a new driver side floor pan. My biggest concern is how to get to the switch on the dash. I seriously don't know how to access the switch as I'm not a contorionist and the darn thing is way up under the dash.

BTW, does anyone know how the fuse comes apart? Like I said, I looked through the manual and can't find boo. Thanks all.

Thanks Keith. My biggest issue with the switch is I can’t figure out how to get there w a multi meter. I was hoping it was a fuse bc that’s accessible. My switch is on the far left side of the dash w the clutch pedal in the way of my head… I managed to take a picture of the gauge; however wires from the switch panel are in the way. I swear everything on the 54 Meadowbrook is a PITA… solution for now, don’t drive at night (?)

I hear you… does need a wiring harness at some point. Need to do that at one point… until then I’ll keep paying my insurance… lol

Thanks for response, I do have a service manual as well as a parts manual. That said I couldn’t find details about that specific fuse holder. I also tried to look at the Internet for some pictures but couldn’t find anything either. Anyway your input will be very helpful. As always thank you so much.

Hello Forum friends. I went to turn on my headlights last night and no power. I checked both bulbs and I have no power going to either of them. I tried to crawl in with the dash and look at the switch however that’s almost impossible. I’ve got a 54 Dodge Meadowbrook. Anyway, in reading other post maybe it could be the headlight fuse? And checking the wiring diagram there does appear to be a fuse somewhere in line. I found what I think is the fuse, but I’m not sure. I posted a picture down below. If this is indeed the fuse how does this darn thing come apart. Any and all help is much appreciated.

Hello all. I noticed today that I have two different types of hubcaps on my 54 Dodge Meadowbrook that look the same, yet one measures 9" across, while the other measures 10" across (see images below). Does anyone know the difference between to the two caps and which one (if either) came on 54 Dodge Cars? Thanks. Dave

Brake drum removal - what the Shop Manual doesn't tell me.

Keith has some good videos on YouTube on brakes in case you need a refresher. -
Thank you John and Doug. I've been searching eBay, FB, Craigs, etc... with no luck. I'll reach out to Ed Speigel. Dave

You may need new wires. I just bought a set from Brillman (link https://brillman.com/product/1948-1954-plymouth-spark-plug-wire-set/). Also, you might want to consider a set of non-resistant plugs.

Hello all. I've been looking and looking (and looking) for a replacement hood crest emblem for my '54 Dodge (flathead). Does anyone know of a source? Below is a picture of mine in it's very sorry state. Thanks. Dave

Great find and welcome. As for your list, make sure you take some time with the brakes. Making it cool is a good thing, but making the car safe is most important. I look forward to following you as you take this journey.

Dustin (the smarter everyday guy) post some great content. My son and I watch all of his videos. You all should check out the channel. It will make you smarter.

I had a car painted several years ago. I found a body guy that did work on the side. He did all of the prep work after I removed most of the bits and pieces. After he was done doing his thing I took it over to Maaco and they shot single stage on it and then baked it afterwards. The paint came out as an 7.5 to 8 out of 10, but I was happy with it. Personally, I like paint that has some flaws here and there... it kind of removes the "it's perfect paint" pressure.

Oh yes, I wasn't aware that Mark was the guy behind the videos on the ihazwings channel. I've watched all of his videos (several of them more than once). Thanks.

Conn47D24, congratulations on your car... it looks great. I working on my door glass right now and noticed you referenced 41 Plymouth Mark's videos. Do you know where I can find these videos? Thanks. Dave

Great stuff on this thread. Like Keith, I am trying to get a P10 back up and on the road after sitting a long time. I, like many others, have benefited from the forum and Keith's YouTube (which is a must watch for anyone who owns an old mopar). I rebuilt my carb this past weekend and found both the accelerator pump and step up binding and not moving up and down as it should. I'm hoping that helps. I also have the distributor out getting rebuilt as there appears to be something going on in the internals (as I've changed the points and condenser and other parts) already. Hoping to get the car running soon.

Another update. I pulled the carburetor apart to rebuild it and noticed the step up assembly was stuck and not moving. I actually had to use pliers to pull out piston. So as I wait for the rebuilt distributor I'm going to reassemble the carburetor with the rebuild kit I got from Mike's Carburetor and reinstall it. More to come.
