  1. Thanks for the response, it’s going on a 4 post car lift with my ‘54 Dodge underneath. So, I need to add both car heights together and add 9”. My ceiling in my garage is 128”. So, looks like it is going to work... on to plan B
  2. No, here’s very elderly and his son in law lives an hour away.
  3. Hello all. I am in the process of buying a 1940 Plymouth Club Coupe and need to determine the stock height to see if it will fit into a storage space I have. Unfortunately, I don't have the car yet and after doing some internet search had no luck finding the height. Thank you in advance for the help!!!1
  4. Thank you CaptainGTX. Can anyone else confirm that rear quarters found on a hardtop are different than the ones found on a coupe? Thank you.
  5. Hello. I need to repair the sheet metal around the rear wheel wells on my '54 Dodge Coupe. I've search all of the regular site and didn't find anything. I did find a '54 Dodge Hardtop in a yard in TX with good quarters, but I'm not sure if the sheet metal around the wheels would be the same as the coupe. I am guessing it would, but wanted to ask the forum. Thoughts? Thanks. Dave
  6. Wow Keith... congratulations. I think the new ride is absolutely amazing. Super happy for you.
  7. Hello all. I have a '54 Dodge Meadowbrook and am trying to track down a usable windshield gasket. I talked to Steele, Bernbaum's, and Clester's and no luck. In fact, Bernbaun's told me that they aren't aware of any aftermarket suppliers that offer a windshield gasket for a '54 2-Door Coupe (Clester's does make a gasket for a Hardtop/Convertible). My questions are: 1) Does anyone have any ideas on where to look for a windshield gasket for a '54 Dodge 2-Door Meadowbrook? 2) For those '54 car owners who have faced with this same challenge, did you ever find a suitable solution? If yes, please share details. Thank you all! Dave
  8. I was curious so I went to SMS' website and found that they have four different fabric under '53 Dodge.
  9. I'm not a huge fan of the '49 - '52 Mopars as the roof lines always look a bit too tall to me. Your car looks great!
  10. Forum Friends, I wanted to draw your attention to our fellow member, KeithB7. He's been super helpful to me personally and puts out some really good content on his YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVoBq2i7wl4w0W4JB6cAMjg). Keith's videos are informative and entertaining. His most recent videos talks a lot of truth about why we all love these old mopars and this hobby. Check it out and subscribe. Dave
  11. greg g, keithb7, and Go Fleiter, Thank you all for the very helpful information. I just purchased a Motors Manual for 1954 off ebay for $18 (not bad). I have the service manual already and will look into locating a part list. Like Keith mentions, at times the service manual / shop manual assumes you are a dealer with dealer tools and it doesn't cover everything. More content and more pictures (l like pictures) will be helpful. Last point, I also, I think this post will be helpful to other newbies like me. Dave
  12. Forum Friends, Sometimes I am hesitate to ask a question on the forum b/c it might have been asked before. That said, I have been trying to figure out what manuals I need. I've got a '54 Dodge and purchased a Shop Manual immediately. The manual has proved helpful; however, I often times read references to a "repair manual" and "parts list". I want to make sure I have all of the literature needed to work on my car. So here are my questions: 1) What is the difference between the shop manual and repair manual? From what I can tell they are the same thing. 2) What is covered in the part manual or parts list? I ask this b/c often I see great visuals and illustrations of parts that are not found in my shop manual. Do I need both? Again, I am sure that the questions above may have been already asked, but have some time searching I couldn't find a solid answer. Please enlighten me. Thank you. Dave
  13. Awesome... thank you. It came out b/c the window got stuck (been sitting for years before I got it) and I might have "massaged" it a little too much trying to get it to move. Whoops. Again, the guidance is much appreciated.
  14. DodgeB4ya, thank you. Any thoughts on how to get the taper stud back in the track? Dave
  15. Forum Friends, I've been having trouble with me passenger side window binding up. I took it apart and it appears as if there's a guide that runs along a track that has come apart (see image). Has anyone seen this? Any idea how to get the guide back on the track? I checked the shop manual and didn't find much. Thank you. Dave
  16. Another option might be to find an aftermarket tank with similar dimensions as the original (if that's possible). I was getting ready to buy a new tank for my '54 Dodge which all in was around $500. Instead I found a Dorman aftermarket tank that had very similar dimensions for $90. Bought a new sending unit for $75 and made some new straps for $30. Installed and it works find. Again, just another option.
  17. Hey forum friends. After several weeks of works, lots a new parts, and some advice from you all I got my 54 Dodge Meadowbrook out of the garage and on the road today. First time the car has been driven in many years.
  18. Thank you guys for all of the response. Mike over at mopar-direct was helpful and has already sent me new 10" shoes/pads. Also, thanks for the tech advice... I bought the adjustment tool from Keithb7 (thanks Keith). Lastly, without this forum there's not way I could have rebuilt my brakes. As I said previous, these old Mopar are fickled and not for the faint at heart. Have a great weekend all. Dave
  19. Rich, Thanks for the response. I measured the drum and it looks to be 10" in the front and back even though the shop manual says my car should of had 11" drums. I compared the old and new shoes and the old ones are an inch shorter. It's kind of weird that I'd have 10" drums all the way around. Working on these Dodges isn't for the faint at heart. Dave
  20. The actual shoes are longer.
  21. Forgot to mention. The shoe I have measure about 9” top to bottom
  22. Hello. I’m in the process of redoing the brakes on my 54 Dodge Meadow. I bought the rebuild kit from mopar-direct. When I went to put on the new shoes I realized the new ones are longer than the ones that came off the car (which are shorter). Not sure what’s going on? Help please... I can’t figure it out.
  23. Thanks guys... onward.
  24. First off, thank you to all have contributed to content related to these fickled Mopar brakes. I didn't anticipate so many nuances when I took on the task of rebuilding the brakes on my '54 Dodge Meadowbrook. So, I have a rookie question (please forgive me). I pulled apart the front brakes and cleaned up the inside of the backing plate with Grease Lighting. After scrubbing on it a bit I managed to get the plate clean (pic below). That said, I am not sure if the inside of the plate was originally painted and/or if I should repaint the plate prior to reassembly. Thoughts? Thank you. Dave
  25. Already bought fresh Carters from George, ready for the intake and linkage! Can't wait!!!! Thanks Tim.
