  1. The for sale part I agree with a 100% and not just here but on many other forums. The ideal thing would for moderators to make it mandatory to post a location after all most forums are giving you are free ad so that is not too much to ask.
  2. It is not big enough to worry about but I would at least clean on the rust to stop any further damage or you could fill weld the hole once its clean
  3. here is a view from the parts manual
  4. On my 47 p15 there were numbers on the left rear frame above the axle. It was a few years ago I forget what the numbers matched.
  5. Interesting information the 3rd photo from the top it has what looks like it could be the tag with rivets you are describing. I have this truck outside between some sheds right now when I get it inside I can give the engine a better look over but that still is a good possibility as the truck looks like someone restored it a while back. It has what I think is a pa inspection tag from 2004
  6. That is what I was looking for the number I found were where I have found casting #'s on other engines but those number I found did not help so I threw it out here.
  7. I recently picked up a 48 1 ton (b1d) dump truck and it does not appear to be the original engine and trying to figure it what it is out of any suggestions would be appreciated. I can not read the engine # I hit it with a wire wheel even tried some chalk but the numbers are impossible to read either never were or worn or ground off. I Was looking for a casting date but only found 2 sets of number 63 GWC3 L193 I did a compression test ran from 160-140 and it has the newer style connection by the water pump so that has me thinking that its newer engine then 48. But the casting date or what ever these numbers do not make any sense to me. It is a 23" head. here are a few photos of the engine and one of the truck .
  8. To get the door handles off there is a small pin use a punch and tap it out (try not to lose it) then the handle will come off , you have to push back the rubber trim ring to see it
  9. I had a chance to look at the 48 I picked up saturday. Looks good so far I changed the oil and did not feel any sludge in the pan One nice thing the oil canister has a drain plug. It looks like a newer engine was installed. I could not read the engine # yet need to hit it with a wire wheel. I did a compression test ran from 160-140 so that and the fact that its fairly clean and painted have me thinking that its newer. Was looking for a casting date but only found 2 sets of number 63 GWC3 L193 Right now the truck is out side in a dirt area so not easy to see things. I did get it running had to replace the coil, oil pressure was decent at about 30 at idle. The truck is basically complete except for the dodge nameplate for the hood and did find one in the glove box. It does have electric wipers not sure if original or added. It looks like a truck that someone had fixed up then at some point got sold and was just parked by new owners. It will need some work but not alot at least from what I see right now. I was not looking for another project have more then enough lined up but I was bored and just scanning craigs list this popped up not to far me and the price was right
  10. I think its Gulfway see link below. I have not used them yet but have been thinking about it so let me know how it goes . I also use Hagerity right now Ed http://www.racensur.com/
  11. I was looking at the 48 dump I brought home yesterday and something not right with the seats. I am looking for a photo of the back of the back and the bottom of the bottom. That sounds dumb what I need to see the way the seats mount to the bottom and back so I know if either part is a correct seat. The bottom I have does not have the plate for the mounting holes so I figure that is not the correct bottom but not sure about the back. So if anyone has there seats out I could use some pictures. Other then the seats I do not see too many other real problems but I did not have it running yet but that part I can handle but these seats have me confused.
  12. Not that I need another project but this was interesting. Its a 48 1 ton dump truck. Best I can tell the dump bed is original tag on the bed has Galion all steel body ,Ohio. Not much major rust a little on the bottom edge of 1 door. Floors solid and painted green. It has a pa inspection tag dated 9/04 I am from NJ so do not know about Pa stickers . The guy I bought it from only had it 2 years and did nothing with it so not much information from him. Just unloaded it and have not had much of a chance to look at it. Here is photo I got from the seller before i bought it.
  13. Saw this on another Dodge site it looks like he could not post it here for some reason ? I do not know the person or the truck but may be worth a look at. It looks like a 1 ton http://www.sweptline.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=21068
  14. I use 1154 bulbs in my 52 these are dual element.
  15. Looks interesting if it were near me I would at least have to go look at it at that price.
  16. Do not know about the swap but here is a link to a 53 manual that is on line at the dpetca link above http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/ph_parts/b_19.pdf
  17. I have had them on a few vehicles and never had a problem. There is I think a cork or rubber gasket that seals the bowl that has to be good but when you think they about not any different the the glass on the fuel pumps.
  18. Ed is correct and you can also look up some napa parts on line. http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=430&CatId=7&SubCatId=1
  19. I got mine from Roberts about $25.00 each you need 2. http://www.robertsmotorparts.com/car_parts.asp
  20. For what its worth I only run a electric pump and have it mounted on the right front inner fender its been a few months and no problems. I also had a 64 W300 (12 volt) with a electric pump mounted in a similar place again no problems. However the instructions with the electrics do say to mount near the tank since the push better then they pull but until I have a problem I am keeping mine on the front fender.
  21. Do you have a willys wagon. I have had a wagon for about 6 years and had set up some willys stuff I have not done much with it since I retired ( 2years) I guess I had alot more time for a computer when I was supposed to be working Anyhow here is a site I set up back then http://www.oldwillys.com/ also a willys yahoo group http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/WillysTW/ ---------------------------------------------------- The willys tech site which I am sure you have visited has the most active forum and classifieds http://www.willystech.com/parts/board.shtml Ed
  22. I rebuild mine like Merle suggested "G = ? I think this is a gasket to seal the valve to the end of the cylinder. It would go between the valve and the end plug"
  23. I think they started using the transmission mounted automatic switch in 49 when the body style changed.
  24. The one on the right looks like the parking lights on my 59 power giant.
  25. Its been a while since I have been there but they also have a P15 owners manual on line .
