  1. Just curious Kevin, why the need or want for “gaining a granny gear and a slower reverse” I’d leave it, unless the original is toast ( just my 2 pennies) “if it ain’t broke.......” (give it to me , I’ll break it) ?
  2. Is this THE John Nida! ? how the heck you been! on my B4, I found a bulb at my local Napa store. I don’t have the number in front of me but, I wanted to say hi and glad you are still bouncing around in the truck Brent - Oregon
  3. pulled the transmission this week. think I’ll see if I can swap some interior broken pieces.... Last time I worked on a transmission it was a dryer time of year outside on the back of the truck. this time, I figured I’d make a stand outa some scrap I had collected over the years and was now just lying around not pretty, but I keeps me outa the rain and should make it easier to handle (height of the transmission top on the stand is perfect for me at 44”) (photo is of a fluid drive as my template, not for this truck)
  4. Found one so far..... I don’t think my brazing skills are quite up for that challenge. So, with that transmission issue, the bent tie rod, groves in the rear drums..... I am leaning towards exchanging/ combining Jim Bob and my B4GA “Buck” and calling this one...... wait for it..... “JIM-BUCK!!!” ? for those following and don’t remember the back story to “Buck” Kinda bummed in that, I planned on driving “Buck” off the trailer at the next years BBQ in Clements and leaving him there. It made me laugh to think off the look on Tim’s face as I drove off and left this rust bucket behind. LOL
  5. Ok, gots me a little hiccup ? pulled the pto Well, on to plan “B”
  6. We went to Michigan this August to see and meet family. Took the long way, flew into Chicago and drove to the destinations. Few folks in either airport and our center seat was open on the plane. (Room for me to stretch out a little) wore our masks the whole flight. planning a trip next year as well, probably just in the states but, there is SO much we haven’t seen.... ?
  7. This thread makes me happy, I thought I was the only one over the 30yr mark on my truck build. Go Bill go BTW, I have that same gas cap on one of my trucks. ?
  8. Ok, Leaning towards Minnesota B&E my “go to” brake cylinder rebuilder “Hagens” doesn’t have the cylinder pistons for this trucks step cylinders. Brandon said they use to make them but since the fire - no more White post says they can re sleeve and replace the pistons that are disintegrated - they use brass sleeves but mentioned a “life time warranty” $125. Each (does that mean LT of the cylinder? I should have asked) Minnesota brake and equipment can replace pistons (with used) and re sleeve with SS (like Hagens does) $110. Each Is there an advantage with brass over SS? I always thought brass was a soft material and would wear faster.... Either way this trucks brakes cylinders will be about $100. More than the B4GA’ s I just did at the beginning of the year..... like they say “pay to play” ?
  9. Geeze Rob, now you tell me... ? I ended up making a push bar for a project I am working on I also removed the anchor bolts to clean them up, cause mine were rusted to the backing plate and shoes and no way to adjust them when the time comes.
  10. Well shoot, the rear brakes kicked my butt!! The left rear drum seal and bearing separated and stayed on the axle housing, while both sides, shoes and drums have groves (the piston being pushed out a little on the RR didn’t help either) Now, decision time for me... I need to do some research on what I can swap with my other GA, what to fix and what to just put up with. Example, the rear brakes on the B3GA are different than the ones on the B4GA but are the rear drums? Looks like they are the same..... made a couple more tools for my “B serious” tool box ? rear drum puller outa 1/2” plate And a “c” clip push bar
  11. WooHoo!!! you rock ? gonna look good an “Rob” so wait..... you going with a B1,2 front clip for TODD?
  12. Thought I’d share a drum puller I made for this truck out of scrap 3”/8” thick, old wood stove door. I now have three midsize trucks and this is the first one I needed help removing the front drums.... but, it worked like butter ? thought I’d pull the brakes off while I troubleshoot the transmission noise and think about the “boomeranged” tie rod end
  13. Your so right 48, I unloaded from my trip to the home improvement store now, I’m gonna see if I can find him again.
  14. Normally I consider myself a mellow driver. But when an upbeat song comes on, the accelerator gets pushed and “game on” ? Today on my way back from the home improvement store, I took it off the line against a new Ford Ranger, the 3500 didn’t catch him. (Sighs) seems like I was slow off the line but, I held a steady car length behind him for a good 1/2 mile uphill. Maybe it was the fact he had a new truck? Maybe it was the tonneau cover he had? Maybe it was he was a younger driver? Oh well, I’ll give him that one ?
  15. Dang Lingle, if I knew you were going to Ggdad’s I would had you mess up his shop for me, or at least hide Puma’s brush ? Brad, did you run 4 wires to the rear? I ended up using JB’s “modified diagram”.... very happy
  16. Yeah, I took apart two of my b3, 4speeds just now looking for that o-ring and...... zilch ? Must be a 3speed thing like JB said. the only reference I found to the o-ring was this I am comfortable not having them and I don’t THINK they leak from that spot (hard to tell from all the other leaks LOL)
  17. I’d be interested is seeing a photo of the three toner
  18. Overall, for us veggies were a flop, ( beats did well in the raised bed) fruits did better. Corn did great.. then low humidity, high winds levels leveled the crop ? Neighbors goats ate well, harvested the immature cobs for the chickens...... Pulled it up and tilled it under last weekend, kinda was satisfying to till under a poor crop. Wish I could till under 2020 LOL
  19. Looks great Brad! Probably goes without saying but, (for the next guy reading this) on the windshield, i filled the ends of the exterior division bar (hollow) with a sealant, to help prevent water from working around the threads of the interior to exterior screws. ?
  20. Is your windshield gasket a molded one piece? look at the whole gasket for the taper larger side out. for the windshield. On mine, that made the flat side out for the division bar. on the rear windows the large lip on the inside, covers the headliners
  21. Wright or wrong, I used this product on mine Sticks on one side Incase I wanted to remove the boards later. I had to trim it down to 1”, then melted the screw holes out with a hot bolt.
  22. Oh Merle, you know me soooo well. ? my poor neighbors, as soon as the wildfire smoke clears Brent stinks up the neighborhood, LOL told them I’ll wait until they’re not home to fine tune it
  23. If I had all three of the carbs you have, I would use the carter on my truck and use the pump that works ? the filter looks different to me but I bet it would work just fine..... If I ever see your truck in person I won’t point and laugh ?
  24. Yeah, that is an unfiltered photo of the truck during the first few days of the wildfires we had. Picked him up in Saturday, my back “locked up” from sitting so much, so he sat on the trailer until Tuesday when the wildfires came to near us. (Pulled him off the trailer cause I needed the trailer) Talk about priorities, I grabbed Julie, some clothes, the cat and we left. Spent the rest of the week coming back to water the house during the day time. This day was our anniversary.... happy 32nd Julie ? LOL
  25. what is the “heat absorbing” option is referring to in the parts manual?
