  1. You don't say if the 55 frame is also a 2-ton unit. Is the 55 frame up to the wood hauling capacity of the 52? ...and if the 52 cab needs a lot of work what do you gain putting it on a 55 frame? Brakes and tires sounds like the easier way out......
  2. A quick search on line comes up with used and rebuilt /6 dizzys. None at $5......but the rebuilt units have all of the new parts that you would otherwise have to buy and they are clean......
  3. The biggest problem with the B&RB engines is the oil filter. Easily solved with a remote. Read through this: http://p15-d24.com/topic/18782-dans-hemi-swap-project/ as it might offer some help although not a RB install.
  4. I still wonder why no-one has setup and started selling converted /6 units. The Mopar parts are extremely reliable and, at least in the states, parts are everywhere...not so with pertronix.... .
  5. Granted, the GV is a nice product, but $3k for 20 mph? A trans adapter and an AX15 or NV 5-speed would be less than ½ of that. Just sayin'.............
  6. Interesting subject. Years ago my daughter drove a 2002 Stratus with the 2.2 and 5 spd. She sold it when the odo hit 185K and it was still going strong. OK, so what is the quoted cost to replace the pump? And what is the value to you to have a reliable vehicle for the kid? Give the street/trade-in value of the car as is, do you have the resources to replace it with something else that may, or may-not, have its own issue hiding below the radar? If the car is in otherwise good to very good condition and has no other issues then the repair may be the best solution. At least you know what you have.....but as was said, it is easy to spend someone else's money. Troll through craigslist and see what your money will buy these days.
  7. Yup, nice house. Cows, sheep and goats will keep 3A under control. There might even be someone close by that would rent the pasture land...payment in chops, ribs, steak...yum! If that doesn't work then plant more trees and let it go back to a natural setting. It seems that one mistake some folks make is to clear the land and make it 'pretty' like they were still in the 'burbs and need to keep the neighbors happy. Most often mother nature has been doing a pretty good job all by herself and really doesn't need the 'help'.
  8. Very Nice!!

IDK what your dad's part of the war was but after needing to kill fellow humans (even when they are trying to kill you) it adds a new dimension to hunting game when you get back to the 'world'........ On a different note, if anyone shoots 5.45x39 I have 300 rnds that need a home.
  10. Good to hear of a good shipping story.
  11. Is there nothing in the UK that could be swapped as a complete unit? Also try WildCat Auto Parts www.wildcatmopars.com They ship world wide.
  12. One of the important factors when swapping transmissions is to insure that the input shaft spline is in 'proper' contact with the disc. If the pilot is too long, and you can maintain spline engagement, then a plate between trans and bell is appropriate and allows for registration between trans and bell as well as for bolt placement...but you already knew that.....
  13. The list looks impressive...but do they simply sell someone else's product like the 'Doctor' does? Who will be first to try them out?
  14. There is an Aussie over on the Hamb doing some great work on a 47 Chrysler. He has some great looking new floor pans so I asked of his supplier. Follow the work here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/47-chrysler-3-window-adding-complexity.974050/ Up-date...all tin work has been done in house......
  15. ...and this is an excellent thread to offer up to folks...which I do quite often.....
  16. ^^^^ Thanks for sharing.
  17. There is no reason to take money for parts that you have to wait on for someone else to fabricate so that you can ship them. YOU then have zero control and in this case the customer gets screwed. Not acceptable. If the Plymouth Doctor wants to be in the sheet metal business then he needs to invest in some inventory.
  18. Yeah, post some photos and hope that someone can ID the parts. You could also call some of the vendors and see if any have your name on file.
  19. Ok, you don't 'need' the money, however much it might be. But like most of us a little extra cash is never a bad thing and you have places that it might be of benefit. Enclosed trailer...not inexpensive for a decent one. Are you thinking that you may need to change locations and thus make it easier to move the DeSoto? Or would it just be for storage? If long term storage is considered (park it and forget it for awhile), then you might look into a shipping container. Air and water tight units are relatively cheap but the tare wt for a high-cube 40' unit is close to 10K so it is not something that you can shuffle around the yard. I haven't measured my '47 but I think it would slide into a container. The biggest factor is whether or not you plan to remain in your current location and the potential cost to move the 'box'. ...but, if you are in a CCR controlled area...... Now, in the long term, you're only 40-something. So what is your plan for the post-65 years? You have a lot of hours in the car that would be a good re-start point when you open the 'time capsule'. You also have the interim to continue to collect parts that may be needed without any time pressure. If you keep it and store it then be sure to put a file together detailing all that you have done and where you 'think' you are headed with the car. Age has a funny way of screwing with formerly intact long-term memory.
  20. Correct for the 'road-draft' tube as we all know and hate but not what the OP was asking about. This would appear to be the answer and the solution is simple. Plug the holes.
  21. I was almost starting to believe all of the talk about a water shortage but I was in the LA area last week and there is no shortage of green lawns and to top it off I got a coupon for a free car wash...... ...I thought that I had a pic attached....but apparently the 'system' is smarter than I am...
  22. The photo does not clearly show the 'pipe' stuck in the block or what is at the end of it...assuming that it is the pipe you are asking about. And then, how does it exit through the pan? Most curious. "...sucked out of the engine" How, by what? "a lot of blow by with internal crank pressure ." Time for new rings at a minimum.
  23. I think the 40gal number is way off for a dishwasher....found this As of August 11, 2009, ENERGY STAR qualified dishwashers are required to use 5.8 gallons of water per cycle or less. Older dishwashers use much more water than newer models. A dishwasher purchased before 1994 uses more than 10 additional gallons of water in each cycle... and since 1992 all new toilets have a 1.6g max flow (even less for some models)... 4 gal for a stool was possible prior to 1992
  24. They likely set them 'out-of-the-way' and then forgot where... Not uncommon when you reach a certain age.....
  25. ...what the ...??? For any purchase or just on tools? What did you buy?
