  1. This this explains the system Tod mentioned: http://www.gothotwater.com/sites/default/files/New%20home%20structured%20plumbing%20Modified.jpg
  2. Benefit is your not wasting the water down the drain bringing if up to temperature.
  3. Absolutely for the water savings. With the drought in CA water is getting very expensive. Locally they are bringing the mothballed desal plant back online and it will add about $30 to the monthly water bill next year. The pump is actually quite small, 16th HP if I remember correctly. Plus it is both timer and temp controlled. So it comes on a 5 am and when it reaches the desired temp shuts off. About 10 am the timer circuit shuts off. Then we run a similar cycle starting around 4 pm into the evening. So when the timer is "on" it only runs until the until the return line reaches the desired temp then shuts off until the temp declines. Our remodel was down to the studs so all new lines were run (PEK) and fully insulated for the entire run on all lines. We have a gas water heater (plus just replaced out 30 yr furnace with a 96% unit) so our gas bills are low, I.E. $62 for Feb. Plus we added a a 8.4 Kv solar array so power use is not an issue. Based on the numbers we are already seeing we be getting free power plus a credit back from SoCal Edison every year!
  4. FYI we just added one during our recent kitchen & bath remodel. Works great, worse case is 5-10 seconds for hot water in the upstairs shower farthest from the water heater. Use to take minutes.
  5. Link to the page? And add it to the site Links page.
  6. You sure about that? I haven't tested it but if I go to find new content and expand the data range it appears to work. Next time I get a new ad email notification I will try it.

Also if you have posted your pics in the gallery you can access them in a thread by clicking on the "My Media" button next to the smiley face in the toolbar. Sorry can't help you with your original question

  16. Re the pt. vs. qt question. Think it depends on the type of air cleaner you have. I believe the heavy duty (about twice as tall as the one pictured) use a quart. The stock a pint.

  21. I will contact him to address any concerns.
  22. The original post reads as a parts wanted request. Yes it could be also be read as a information request for names of potential suppliers. A judgment call was made by the moderator. If it was posted to the Classified section people can post with suggestions as to supplier sources, just like a thread in the forum. The first (and only) pinned note in the forum addressed the policy of parts wanted request. This was a big problem area in the previous iteration of the site and I purchased Classified software to directly address the problem. People just have to use it. Want to be part of the solution instead of second guessing moderator judgement calls? Subscribe to the Classified section so you can see new request coming in and being able to help someone. The volume of email traffic from new ads is low so your email won't get flooded and you might be able to clean something out of your garage!
  23. ISP got back with regarding root cause for this outage. (The database used is typically rock solid, in use by thousands of sites worldwide) Specifically we had a large number of users and search engine bots hitting the server at the same time causing it to run out of both physical and swap memory. Bad news it caused a crash, good news it is it means the site is continuing to grow! We have a plan ready if it becomes a more common issue.
  24. Test post
  25. I want to get one for my the creek bed that runs behind my property. It is like a freeway at night with critters going back and forth. Lots of skunks followed by lots of coyotes.
