  1. Yes, my wife was with me, but she is shy. Every time I took a picture she ducked! She's quick, I didn't get one shot with her in the car.
  2. Went for a ride yesterday. It was a beautiful fall day after several days of tropical weather and rain. I thought I would try to get some countryside pics. Dave ,,,,
  3. Normal atmospheric pressure is just under 15 psi. 7 x 15 = 105. I would think that engine compression should be near 105 psi. Your 55-65psi sounds low. Dave
  4. Are the points adjusted properly? Last summer my car did the same thing. It would start hard, run poorly then die. After going over all of the awful possibilities in my mind, I discovered that the points had closed up. A little adjustment and it has been good to go since.
  5. It looks like a Delahaye.
  6. I use a battery tender and it seemed to work, however, I can't say that it made the battery last longer. When I bought the car 3 years ago the PO said that the car had been sitting and that he just put the batttery in to sell the car. It didn't seem to be a very good battery, and it was physically small. I don't know what the cca rating was. That battery limped along with the help of the battery tender until about a month ago. I replaced that battery and can't believe how much better the car starts, and runs. I still use the battery tender, because there are times when I don't take the car out for a couple of weeks. Dave
  7. Good Luck! I also have a 48 D24 business coupe. Mine is currently a driver. It looks OK, but has a lot of old body rot that has been patched. Because of this, I do not plan to do a body off restoration the way you are. If I can help you with any questions, please ask. It will be interesting to see how your restoration progresses. Dave
  8. It was a very interesting show! I met Rebecca, Moose, Mike, and Moose's family. It is nice to put names and faces together. Unfortunately I was so busy looking and talking that I didn't take many pictures. Here are the ones I got: ,,,,, The first 2 are shots of some of the cars, there must have been close to 100 cars there. The next 2 show Rebecca's coupe. It is a sharp looking car. The fifth pic is Mike's 47 business coupe. The passenger in the last car reminded me of Cooper! Dave
  9. I bought some 2 years ago from Restoration Specialties. ... Not cheap, but they have quite a selection. http://www.restorationspecialties.com/
  10. I intend to get there between 12:30 and 1:00. I'll look for you. Dave
  11. I was thinking that my car had lots of problems that I need to deal with, but I feel better about it now that I read your to-do lists. My list is a lot like yours, but the car is running. When the sun is out and it is not too cold, there is nothing like cruising down a country lane with windows open and vent open. I think that I will work down the list when the mood strikes. Dave
  12. There is an article on pg 104 of the Nov. issue of Classic Car magazine that addresses this. One of the suggestions the author makes is to use diesel truck oil, as it still has some zinc in it. - Very interesting articlle. Dave
  13. I just bought a large drip tray at the local Car Quest store. Made by Blitz, about 25 x 36 inches. Made of metal, kind of like a big cookie sheet. It was 15.95 including sales tax. It seems to catch most of the drips.
  14. What great pictures! I'm sure that the kids will remember the car the clothes and the 78 rpm records. I have a jukebox that plays 45's, and I have found that most kids today don't know what the old records are! It's wonderful that you were able to give them, what I am sure, was a fun lesson! Dave
  15. I saw the show several years ago, and that was where it was located. I will try to get there with my coupe, although it is not rodded and is as slow as a slug! Dave
  16. Where is the show being held this year?
  17. I'm sorry that we didn't meet. I'm also sorry I didn't get a good picture of your Fury. I was busy looking at the older cars. Dave
  18. More show pics: ,,,,
  19. My wife and I went to the Bay State Auto Club's show today. This show was for pre-war cars, and in a second row, cars of the 40's and 50's. No hot rods, nothing newer than 1959. (although a couple of 60's car snuck in) Lots of very nice cars there. The oldest was a 1910 Reo truck. There were some fabulous Cadillacs, Packards, Pierce Arrows, etc. plus a good showing of Mopars. Here are some pictures: ,,,,
  20. I noticed the propane lamp fixture in your 4th picture. Until a couple of years ago we owned a summer cottage on an island in Maine. It didn't have electricity, but it did have 2 of those propane lights, a Servel gas refrigerator and a gas stove. Those lamps throw a lot of light, and heat! We used to go to a local RV supply place to get mantles and globes for the lamps. I think they were made in England. It looks like great fun, and the lamp really takes me back. Dave
  21. Are the motor mounts OK? If the motor moves, perhaps from torque, the linkage could bind. When the motor drops back into place the shifting problem disappears. Check the rear motor mounts.
  22. It looks great! I'm hoping to do the same job on my Dodge; replace the radiator and clean up the engine bay. What did you end up using on the motor? Rattle can engine paint, Por 15 or what? I hope that mine comes out as good as yours. Dave
  23. My speedometer reads about 10 % too fast. I finally figured out that it is not the speedometer at all, but rather the tires that are on the car are about 10% taller than stock. --- Check your tire diameter before messing with speedometer gears. Dave
  24. Thanks for the concern, and advice. So far I have had only a couple of semi-serious calls about it. If this keeps up, I may end up keeping it.
  25. I am selling my 48 business coupe! Sharp looking car, still a work in progress, but then that is where the fun is. Here is the Boston Craigslist listing: http://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/cto/1831892019.html The car is in Needham, MA, about 10 miles west of Boston. I hate to sell it, but I am moving to North Carolina and the garage at our new house is not as large as the one I have now. (I know, why would anyone buy a house with a smaller garage!) Anyways, give me a call or pm if interested. - and yes, I will post it on the cars for sale page. Dave
