  1. Two things 1 Need to buy a 25 inch head, 2. Is Terril Machine in Texas still around. Cant find the contact information
  2. Mark, I have duals on both of my cars. Here is my suggestion, call George Asche, send him your carb and he will build a match, set up for duals. Buy his carb linkage set up. EZ to install and looks great. I bent my lines with a common tube bender, but i did put the fuel block down by the fuel pump, out of sight. I have since upgraded to an electric fuel pump. From the what its worth department, On my 49 coupe, while I had the head off, we did a valve job, new valve springs, pulled the pistons new rings and bearings. You Will, start reving the snot out of Ruby! Have fun, cant wait to run the gravel roads of Vermont again. Those crazy Plymouths just took off!!!!!
  3. Change of plans and couldnot make it. Wonder how it went? Lee did you go?
  4. Printed out this thread, took it to the parts store. Easy as 1-2-3 numbers matched and they even had a paint chip book to confirm.
  5. Pull the carb apart and clean it out. I guarantee you, if you left gas in the bowl its gummed up. Buy a can of carb cleaner, and carefully take everything apart and clean it out. Make sure you also pull the aluminum plugs and remove the jets and needle valves.
  6. I would make sure the bearings and races are in good shape, specifically the race. As stated clean it up really well, make sure all parts seat correctly and install the shims. Remember your dealing with 60 year old parts and equipment.
  7. its the darker green. do you have a paint code #
  8. All, I am wanting to paint my 51 Dodge a green color that is close to the orginal.. Does anyone have or know what a modern color code would be?
  9. Would a rear end out of a 47 Plymouth fit under a 1951 Dodge Truck. dont want to spend a lot of money, 410 should be better than 430
  10. mKEY, i BOUT MY TIREES FRUM MONTGOMERY WARDS, GOOD PRICE GIVE THEM A CALL
  11. Was planning on attending, but work has gotten in the way.
  12. ON MY 49 COUPE I AM RUNNIG SIX VOLT, HAD THE TANK CLEANED AND REPLACED THE FUEL SENDING UNIT IN THE TANK. 1. ONCE i BURN OFF 5 PLUS GALLONS THE GAUGE IS VERY ERATIC, GOING FROM FULL TO EMPTY, NEEDLE JUST BOUNCES AROUND 2. AFTER 10 GALLONS IS READS EMPTY. WHAT ADJUSTMENTS CAN i MAKE?
  13. I'm with Don C on the gearing.
  14. The seating material and I would venture to say you have had mice living and leaving stuff behind
  15. George Asche knows how to build carbs and set them up the right way. There is an old saying "you dont know what you dont know". What you got right now is working. I say its the carb.
  16. Here is my two cents. Something else is wroooong. I have driven my 47 cross country two summers in a row with temps well into the 90's and the engine temp somtimes getting to 200. It would always restart. If you are still using the mechanical fuel pump make sure you have the shields in place, make sure the line from the tank is up along the frame rails and when it gets near the engine make sure its up and away from anything hot. Float level, check it again or better yet send it off to George Asche and let him rebuild it, best $100.00 you can spend. Timing, always good to check it and finally your coil. Make sure your coil is mounted correctly and is new and it is not getting hot. When you got to start it, hold the pedal to the floor and let her crank. Best of luck
  17. Ed, just went thru the repaint of my 47 engine. I used the POR 30, higher temp resistance.
  18. You ask, when was the last time you drove behind a speeding plymouth on a dirt road? How about last summer when those hot road plymouths just took off.
  19. Greg, good cyphering on the ratio. I have not really had it out on the open highway yet, so not sure how it will run. Also, still considering swapping out the 16's to 15's.
  20. Big Motor Week 1947 P15, finally completed the rear end swap. Found a 1968 Roadrunner, with 355 gears. Rebuilt it, bolted right in, only had to change the rear ujoint. Runs Great. Ready for the Walter P Chrysler show this July in Michigan and the POC Meet in September. 1949 P17 Business Coupe, pulled it out of storeage, added a little gas and fired it right up. Just need to rebuild the front wheel cylinders, clean it up and I am ready for the June Monster Mopar Drag races. Yes I am going to try that again. 1950 Dodge 1/2 Ton. Able to hang all of the front end sheet metal, fenders, inner fenders, radiator core support, etc. amazing what a 12 pack can do to keep you focused. Next step, put the motor in and start painting.
  21. Be careful, last time you guys got together. Those "wild plymouths" just took off and left us!
  22. i will be there. Its great when I can combine work and pleasure
