Let me know if you get that flywheel off. I have tried on my 49 business coupe, it seems to me, you need to pull the bell housing off. the flywheel just wont clear it
All, I have OD's in both of my cars. Dual carbs so I have a switch I flip to put in/out of OD I have found patience is my friend, over 35 MPH, lift off the gas, flip the switch wait a couple of seconds, click and I'm in OD, Sometimes it takes two times to make it work. As a friend told me this is 1950's technology not 2015
That's what I thought 11 vs 10 If you went to the 10 would it be just switch over the backing plate, adjusters, shoes and perhaps the bearings? Are the spindles the same?
Just picked up a 48 Desoto sedan. I'm sure it will need a complete brake overhaul. Since I just converted my 49 p17 Business coupe to disc brakes can I use the drums, shoes and cylinders?
Discovered the switch is bad. One of the connectors is loose internally. Able to wire the brake lights thru a dedicated line. Anyone have or know where I can get a head light switch for a P15?
Returned from a car show, no lights, blown fuse. checked it a little later, replaced the fuse no visible wear spots works fine. Drive it blows a fuse. removed the headlight switch put in a fuse turn on the just the headlights the whole unit gets hot blows a fuse. Where should I start to look?
Joe, have fun. Wish I was going but not up right now for a 3000 mile. I ve done St. Louis to Portland Oregon and St Louis to St Johnsbury Vermont, and several St Louis to Detroit. My advise stop every two hours, run a good quality oil, I even use a little lucas additive, you will figure out a comfortable driving speed and pace. Enjoy the trip
I renewed my WPC membership, and registered my 47 P15. I am planning a sight seeing tour from St Louis to Springfield Friday Morning, hope to be at the host hotel by midafternoon Friday. When I registered at the hotel they already had 70 room reservations, when you add in those attending for the day, should be a pretty good turnout. Greg G and I will be hosting a Friday night parking lot event. Hope to meet a few new MOPAR fans.
I'm with Greg, we just show up, Pay the registration fee or not! Parking lot party is worth it. we are planning on getting up there Friday midday, look around. Parking lot party Saturday do the show.
Its official Greg G and I will be hosting our annual parking lot BBQ/Adult Beverage get together Friday night July 24 2015 in the parking lot of the Host hotel. Spread the word!!! Greg and I are planning on arriving into Springfield Midday on Friday. May bring the 47 P15 and 49 BC, not sure yet. Hope to see you there. Mark
They all have great prices until you have a claim!!!!! I was with Hagerty for years, no claims. One night after a car show I left my car out over night. Got egged by a little :*&t head. Hagerty cancelled my policy. REASON, all insured cars are to be garaged every night (its in the fine print) I went with my local agent for home and other cars, not a huge difference. other than NO SMALL PRINT. Insurance is only good when you need it HAGERTY let me down.
That's what I would check. Start with the accelerator pump, one thing I keep an eye on is when you pull the top of the carb, if you see any dirt or debris I would rebuild it and make sure everything is clear.
I have 2 vehicles powered by Georges stuff, a 1947 P15 Sedan which has been coast to coast, even up pikes peak.
a 1949 P17 Business Coupe similiar travels, but most notalby I ran it in a National Nostaglic SuperStock event, finishing second. (Bracket racing, driver error). Fun Cars, not main stream. Simple is better. Best of luck
Greg, I am planning on attending the WPC event in Springfield for sure, Travel Trailer camping trip to Michigan and then a street rod show up in Grand Rapids in September.
Joe, I just rebuilt the front end on my 49, all new bushings and arms. We used the same method you did to adjust the camber. I then had the front end professionally aligned, steers perfect, no wear etc. Drove from st Louis to Port Huron for the POC meet. All good
