  1. if its a column shift, clean and lube everything. Still doesnt work may need to adjust the shifting rods. Check out the manual. not hard to do
  2. OK, I have the same car. Id replace the wiring harness from Rhode Island Wiring, Id go to 12 volt, with Alternator from Howard, new points, condensor and wires. (12 volt will start faster and easier. Rebuild brakes, MC/Wheel Cylnders, Flexible Lines, Oil pressure line. Radial Tires and Seat belts. Ive driven my 47 coast to coast.
  3. Does any one have a picture of how the fender seal is connected on the front fenders for B2 1950. I bought the seals from DCM, obviously the fender has existing rivet holes. Thanks for the help
  4. get a bigger hammer! Be ready when it does come loose. You will know it. All the right tips.
  5. very nice, dont see many fast backs. pm me with what your looking for
  6. Not too hard. Just messy. Id first pressure wash everything off, pull the floor boards, drive shaft, take pictures of the cables and rods. When i did mine i just pulled the transmission, pay attention to the clips on the throw out bearing, put in a new pilot bushing while your at it.
  7. anyone making running boards?
  8. Id say no, whats wrong with cleaner looking one? Is that the one that came out of your car?
  9. Anyone know of a source for B1B running boards?
  10. Mark, believe it or not Im starting to assemble my 50 dodge truck. Where can i find a service manual to help with setting the fenders and hood.
  11. where did you get the rubber ?
  12. Update, installed motor and transmission last night. 360 dual plane intake, 650 edelbrock, electronic ignition, headers, rv cam, 347 HP and 410 # of torque. As always, didn't have all the parts (transmission mount) to complete install. With no body it was pretty straight forward. Once we have the mount, we can than position ,adjust motor and transmission to get enough clearance for the power steering pump. Then I will mount the cab, radiator support to make sure we have the clearances needed.
  13. sounds good, like to hear how it turns out
  14. Thats the advice I was given
  15. Does it match
  16. I agree with ordering the parts off of the distributor number. If you can id pull the distributor and make sure everything is tight, and internal wiring is spaced correctly.
  17. Drive your car to the locksmith they might work on it the parking lot
  18. Lock smith, on my 47, doors and trunk are different keys.
  19. On my 47, disc front and 8 3/4 rear end I used a valve for the front (6) and a second (8)for the rear also used a rebuilt stock MC with 7/8 bore. Stops perfect. With a stock rear end very important you get the shoes adjusted to spec. good Luck
  20. when in doubt, send it George Asche
  21. Good to hear, I also talked with Howard. Original isn't as important now as reliability is. As I have previously mentioned I have driven my car to portland, detroit and vermont even though I have had the generator rebuilt and matched to the regulator by professionals, i still had charging problems.
  22. Just finished the swap over from 12 volt generator to a one wire alternator. Only question is why did'nt i do this sooner. Bought the alternator for George Asche, and the bracket from vintage garage. Hardest part of the switch was painting the bracket. Converted to negative ground, connected one wire from alternator to battery side of the regulator. Starts right up and everything works great.
  23. Mr Adams, I said a little smoke, not a fogger. I guarantee you every old plymouth on the road today smokes and burns oil. Just saying
  24. I agree, pull the head, new gasket, valve job, even cut the head. Thats what i did to my 49, I have two cylinders in the 50-60 range. Drive it everywhere even it took it Detroit twice. if that works you can even pull the head, pan put in new rod bearings and rings. Whats a little smoke
  25. Very well done, looks great
