  1. I have been to Georges "house of speed" about 5 time over the years. I have ridden in his both of his cars. Its all relative. They run great and when you get know George, he is the ultimate tinkerer. I have three motors with his stuff, two of his overdrive transmissions with his fast second gear set up. Both cars run completely different.
  2. I just had my speedo for my 50 dodge truck rebuilt. Next step is the face plate. Does anyone make a decal/replacement for these?
  3. My two cents. Having had lots of carb issues over the years. When you take them apart, especially with the description you gave. The carb is still slightly clogged. If it was mine I would pull it back apart, disassemble, remove all of the parts and the acces plugs (aluminum) get a light and a piece of piano wire and make sure they are clear. Once you route them out, spray with carb cleaner and then blow them out. (dont forget about the ball bearing)
  4. If you haven't gotten them loose. Here is my two cents. Heat the nut till its glowing red (not the stud) should come off. Once they cool off, recut clean up the stud and nuts.
  5. All, continuing to assemble the 50, anyone know of a source for bushings for the clutch and brake pedals. I'm replacing everything else, so why not. Really they do need it? Its a 3 speed bell housing with and adapter to accept a S-10 T5
  6. Bought a new rubber cowl seal from Steele for my 50 1/2 ton. A crazy question how do you install it? Is it glued to the vent itself, or do you try and fit it to the cowling portion?
  7. Update, I have a 1950 1/2 ton that I bought in pieces (I didn't take it apart) Reassembly has started. When installing the gas tank, I cannot figure out the rear mount (on my 48 there is a bracket) , in the 50 no bracket or spot for bracket. Are their different size tanks?, any pictures of mounting?
  8. I used the Truck pressure plate. Truck throw out bearing new S10 clutch.
  9. Tranmission fit right in with no modification to the 3 speed bell housing or the frame (tunnel) I used the s10 clutch disc. Hope its got enough meat on it to work!
  10. Do it! I have driven my 47 to Portland 5800 miles, and then to Vermont 3200. I am also of the mindset that 300 is about all I could handle. 400 and 500 mike days just too much! I am planning another long run for St Louis to next summers Plymouth meet in Michigan, up the UP over to Wisconsin and then back.
  11. Just did the conversionin 50 Dodge. Older Style for speedo cable, also 6 cylinder trans is preferred. I ended up buying two of them 1 for $50.00 on valentines day off of craigs list, 2 Rebuilt from Stovebolt
  12. My 47 has been cross country and back, st Louis to Portland Oregon 5500 mile, st Louis to Vermont 2800. I would make sure everything is up to par prior to leaving, get rid of all the old stuff. Two most important tools a cell phone and a AAA card. Then drive it like a rental car!!!!!!
  13. It will pull it, not real fast and it wont stop real quick!!! But what the heck, go for it. Gearing will be the deal maker or breaker. 355 wont do it, 410 plus or put an older 4 speed with a granny gear.
  14. Wondering if anyone has installed an S-10 5 speed into your truck. Ordered a conversion kit from Tom Langdon, seems like a pretty straight forward swap.
  15. I swear i recently read where some creative sort had figured out how to mount a dual master cylinder off of jeep onto a truck bell housing. Does anyone remember? I searched the forum with no luck
  16. All, my 50 1/2 ton is getting closer to becoming a reality. Will pick up from the body shop this weekend and start the reassembly. It will have 218 bored, dual carbs and exhaust,HEI ignition. Disc conversion on the front 83/4 rearend with the orignal 4 speed. What do you think would be an ideal rear end gearing for comfortable high way speeds, yet abiltiy to pull a small camper?
  17. Title says it all, why is the key lock only on the passenger side door on the Dodge Trucks?
  18. Jim, there should be clips that hook/clamp to the channel and then clip into the door itself.
  19. Will have my 1950 back from the body shop next week. Any pictures on how the brake and Clutch pedals/shift rod/ all go back together. I bought new bushings for the brake pedal, and bell housing. But since I didnt take it apart I am a little fuzzy on how it goes back together
  20. I had the same issue with my 49 Coupe. Pulled the head, honed the cylinders put in stock rings, rod bearings, new valve springs, lapped the valves. Runs great no smoke on a very low budget
  21. Will a T5 Transmission work in a 1/2 ton pickup. I have disc brakes on the front, 8 3/4 rear end, so I started thinking why not go all the way and put a new style transmission in? What do you think?
  22. thanks
  23. Does nayone make replacement bed side panels?
  24. Well its time to begin reassembling the 50 1/2 I bought a few years ago. Cab is mounted. Can I put the motor in with the 4 speed transmission connected? I didn't take it apart, do not sure what the sequence willbe.
  25. Two things 1 Need to buy a 25 inch head, 2. Is Terril Machine in Texas still around. Cant find the contact information
