  1. Looks like the clip from inside the distributor rotor that holds the rotor to the shaft. Mine falls out every time I pull the rotor off. don't know how it would find its way into the oil pan though. Maybe got dropped in there before the filler tube was installed?............Tim
  2. I am not a computer tech, just a guy who fools around with them a little so take this for what it is worth. I was once able to get out of a similar issue by running my AV program after booting up in "Safe Mode". But when a friend of mine got a similar bug that would not allow any .exe programs to open. It would set a message stating there was no file association for .exe like mine did but would not work in Safe Mode either. It could not even open the anti-virus program (Norton). The antivirus it would open was a bogus one that was part of the actual virus but I forget the name of it. Anyway, the way I got out of it was to right click on "start", left click on open, left click on tools at the top of the page and left click on "folder options" from the drop-down menu. Selected the "File Types" tab in the pop-up box, then selected "New". typed EXE in the dialogue box and clicked "OK". From there I believe you can just close this stuff and then open your true av program to capture the worm. Not sure this is the same worm but it is worth a try. If you get a message stating that EXE is already associated you can just cancel an know that wasn't it. Hope this helps, I am not a fan of messing around with the registry unless I have to..............Tim

  6. Bud Garvey owns quite a few cars from this era and he brings quite a few to local car shows. He has a museum of sorts in Osceola Mills, PA. Bud was a local racer for years and is now a historian, collector and restorer of old dirt track stuff. He has a cruise in at his garage/museum each year.   7. I have a Hobart Handler 140. It is capable of welding much better than I do. Has done everything I ask of it.
  8. Finally got some quality time in the garage with my '41 Dodge cpe. I put the grille half back in and put the hood back on with help from my wife. That officially finishes my timing seal replacement. I put my rear wheel spacers on to finish my rear differential replacement. I started both the '41 and '69 and let them run up to temperature in the garage. No leaks now. Both sounded good but the '41 flattie sounds better than the '69 slant to me, smoother I think. I think next I am going to replace both front wheel cylinders and possibly install a dual port master cylinder. been very cold here so I don't try to heat the garage very often. Yesterday it was in the low 30's so I didn't need to heat it. I did turn the heat on while the wife was helping though. Least I could do for such a good helper.

  10. Man, I love a junkyard. So many memories when I think about it. When I turned 16 in '74, along with my cousin, and got my license we were driving junk and always needed parts. A local guy had a repair business and a small yard. We would go out to "Don's" at least once a week, maybe more. We could drive through the yard and pull parts. I mean we used used ball joints, tie rod ends, u-joints, tires or whatever. Never had money for new. We would pull up to the garage and Don would come out and look in the trunk and invariably say something like "give me 2 bucks". He kept us on wheels. I remember once he let my Dad and I use his garage and tools to swap a tranny in an AMC Ambassador that Dad had. He always did stuff like that, not just for us but for a lot of people. We always banged on the cars and pulled back the weeds looking for bees and snakes before getting too involved. never saw any poisonous snakes but black and garter snakes and lots of hornets and wasps. As I got older and had better jobs I bought better cars and could afford new parts so I frequented the junk yards less until I bought the old Dodge. Then it was Dad and I scrounging around all the local yards looking for parts. The operators had changed though, no vehicles in the yards, they wanted to pull the parts and the fees were based on fifty percent of new cost. Still found found a couple that operated the old way and thoroughly enjoyed them. I think that is why I go to Carlisle and Hershey to the swap meets. I love walking the aisles looking and rooting even if I am not looking for anything special. I often go and never look at anything but the piles of parts and I almost always find something. Great topic for a cold February morning. Thanks for the memories.

  16. I bought a '74 Duster one time that didn't run. Replaced fuel pump and it ran fine, for awhile. After the second fuel pump I started tearing them apart and found a hard red sand-like substance in all of them as well as the inline filter I had put ahead of it. I pulled the gas tank and took it to the local pressure car wash and flushed several pounds of this substance out of it. I was about 17 years old but a couple "old timers" told me that is what sugar does in a fuel system after it is in there awhile. Don't know if that is what it was or not but it made my first year of dating my wife interesting as every time we went cruising down town the darn thing would quit and we would have to walk to my sisters and borrow her car to pull start mine and then it would run. If you shut it off it may or may not get enough fuel cranking to start. I often wonder who disliked that guy that had the Duster enough to do that. I added a locking gas cap just in case they didn't know he had sold the car.......LOL
  17. Here are mine this morning. '09 Dodge Journey, '01 Ford F150 and '97 Chevy Monte Carlo. The garage houses the '41 Dodge Business Cpe, '69 Dodge Dart Gt and '05 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500. Couple more inches snow on the way for today. One weatherman says 1 to 3" and another says 3 to 6". I don't want any, LOL.
  18. And that is with the station operators 70 percent markup! I doubt there is that kind of profit in it for the local operator today.
  19. Don't forget to disconnect the original wires when you run your jumpers. If you don't a broken wire could be discovered but any shorts or grounds would still be present and you could still have the same results.

  22. I watched that auction last night. I think all the disclaimers were a red flag to potential bidders. If you have to try that hard to cover your *** in case it is in fact a fake, well, it just may be. To me, I could care less who a car belonged to, unless it was family, or what it was used for previously.I have strong memories of those events and respect for the people involved. But to say that hearse is more valuable today because it once carried JFK just doesn't do anything for me. Real or not, I have no interest in a Pontiac hearse as a collector car. A Mopar hearse? Only if the car itself did something for me, not who it may or may not have transported. Not knocking anyone who is into that stuff, I am just a car guy and the car is the star to me, not the peripherals.

  24. I will keep you up to date on the Demon Rodney. It is a '72 that is a completely stripped basket case. Originally a six cylinder car that has had a k-member swap for a 360 that comes with it. The guy stripped it and was sandblasting but lost interest. I had a '70 Duster 340 and a '74 Duster 318 that were sisters to the Demon. I miss the '70 a lot. banned for life is letting the cousin off easy in my book.........Tim
