  1. My '69 dart is titled as a '68. I am told it was common in Pennsylvania for cars to be titled as the year in which they were first titled. Therefore early production units were sometimes titled as last years and left over models were sometimes titled as a later year. No facts to prove it, just what I was told. Makes sense to me though. old rat 49, explaining it is cool, it means people are interested. The ones that want to argue about it can be a pain though.
  2. If you start a build thread anywhere let us know so I can follow the build. Old cars are cool no matter who built them the first time. That is a great looking Fairlane too.
  3. Those are great pics. I spent some quality garage time with my '41 and '69 today. Of course had to take each on a "test run" when I was done. Didn't go far though because the state roads were salted yesterday due to freezing rain yesterday morning and I didn't want to chance finding any wet roads to spread salt under the cars.
  4. MMMMMMMMMMMMMM Pie!
  5. Cartoons then football, ahh, Life is Good! Raining pretty hard here too, at least it is above freezing.
  6. OK! If you confess now, my marriage may be saved. I don't know who drove over here and ate the pie, but I am getting the heat for it. ("burp") Come on men, help a guy out.
  7. I think this is the bulb you need if it takes a dual pin base. ( #88 ) You may be able to get them at an auto supply such as NAPA, Advance Auto etc. Look in your socket and see if it has two pins. If it does this bulb should work. It may or may not be the original number bulb as I have no info on your Plymouth. I simply searched out a bulb I think will work....Tim Edit: On this type bulb the ground is connected to one pin and the hot to the other so the lamp filament is isolated from the socket and the circuit can only be completed by negative to one pin and positive to the other. On the one you have the pins are one for each filament and the case completes the ground circuit thus keeping it lit all the time. Hope that helps.
  8. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
  9. I think it is the wrong bulb. The 1158 is a dual element that grounds through the base. You need a single element that grounds through one of the posts on the bottom......Tim
  10. Great job. Glad you are fixing it.
  11. That car is beautiful. It has the right look and sound for a street rod. In my opinion that could be the poster car for fat-fendered rods.
  12. Possibly an alignment problem or pressure plate issue but I would check all the easier stuff before I went inside the bellhousing. If the pedal returns can you feel any excessive freeplay in it?
  13. Does the pedal return the same amount every time? Could it be the pedal assembly hanging up on the floor? Does it do it when sitting level or only when twisted? I have seen a bad motor mount put enough of a bind on things to hang up a clutch, and when that happens it will usually not show up until the engine is under stress, such as pulling away from a stop. Same thing can happen with a bad pilot bushing, I've been told, but haven't experienced it myself. That is my .02 cents worth. I'm sure others will have more.......Tim
  14. That is a beautiful car and a beautiful sound.
  15. "i don't care if he's local...i rather deal with a nice out of state guy then a jerk at home." Couldn't have said it any better than that.
  16. Fantastic! Thanks for the ride.
  17. That is a beauty! Congrats!
  18. All ant and no grasshopper is not good. I get to be an ant all week and some weekends too. Today is all grasshopper, I hope. Took a nice ride and walk earlier and now I'm ready for some football.
  19. I like the Valiant better too. Dad had one like it when I was in high school. I used to use it when my car was broke down or something.
  20. That is good news. Glad to hear it is running better again.
  21. That is why they have all the Pictures
  22. Could be the pump. Could also be sucking air somewhere through a bad piece of fuel line. I had an issue with mine doing that years ago and it turned out to be some junk in the tank floating around and occasionally blocking the fuel pick up in the tank.
  23. Good to hear! Nice to hear you do some parades. Great way to introduce the youngsters to old cars.
  24. Tim, I agree with you. We always opted for Motor's when we could get them. They always seemed to be a little more thorough and easier to follow.
  25. Was helping Dad with his '93 Chrysler tonight. Me, my dad, and my brother in his garage for a couple hours is our version of a family reunion. Anyway, as I was leaving, dad gave me two old manuals. These are like gold to me, dog-eared pages, scrap paper notes and all. It is like a family history. The Chilton's is a 1940 to 1953 and the Motor's is a 1935 to 1952. As you can see they are well used and dirty as any useful automotive literature should be. With the proper manual my dad can fix anything. He taught me the importance of researching an issue before I knew what research was.
