  1. Here is Kennywood's current attraction site. These are listed under classic rides. http://www.kennywood.com/site/attractions.html
  2. Kennywood still has this attraction but says they are electric powered. Check out this Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Kennywood_Auto_Race_DSCN2817.JPG
  3. Could have been a visit from a previous owner who had to have one last ride.
  4. Nice pics Greg.

Very nice pics. Car looks great!
  6. Tom, I am sorry for your loss..... Tim
  7. Nice pics Bob.
  8. Nice ride! Glad it is all working well now.
  9. "Anyone have any comments about a 3.21 ratio rear. Harold" I am running a 3.27 rear from an explorer in my 41 Dodge Cpe. I like it alot better than the original. I am running a stock '48 230 and a fluid drive three speed. I believe it is a bit under powered to truly pull this gear on steep grades in high gear if it were not for the fluid drive. I also believe the fluid drive is a saving grace for my clutch although 1st gear seems plenty low enough. It was alot cheaper than an overdrive tranny, but I feel I could use another gear between second and third for climbing hills. It is not fast but will cruise at 60mph no problem and is a more relaxed ride than before. I would like to try a 3.55 someday but have no desire to go back to 4.11
  10. Thanks for the color tips. I am not very artistic at all. What you say about drawing out the color makes sense, at least to me. For the life of me I cannot think of how a pinstripe would be located on this car though.
  11. It's funny you would say to lower the rear an inch or so. When I replaced my rear diff. one of my goals was to bring the rear up an inch or so. It always looked like the springs were sagging to me before. My dad agrees with Andy. Different strokes for different folks...LOL
  12. Tom, I really don't know what to say, except that I hope you can find some relief by spending time on the forum and tinkering with the old cars. I pray the best for all..............Tim
  13. That sounds like real good mileage. What was average speed of the majority of your driving? What all is done to your engine?
  14. Congratulations!
  15. Thanks for all the comments. Photoshopping the colors has been fun. I downloaded a free editor called Gimp and it works well. I like the yellow and tan more than I thought I would. The red keeps growing on me. Not a big deal, it is only paint. Probably change up the color now and then just for something different. I haven't got them balanced yet so I have to take them back off for awhile anyway. I agree Don the gold on your hubs looks much better than the red on your car.
  16. Cool toys. I like 'em.
  17. Great site, I bookmarked it.
  18. Thanks guys, keep the ideas coming. I am not very visionary on this stuff so I like the suggestions. Here are a couple more. Tan [/img] Light Blue Yellow
  19. I bought new wheels and tires for my '41 Dodge. They are 6.70-15 and my old ones were 6.00-16 so I had to go with a new hubcap combo as well. I bought full moon hubcaps and painted the exposed part of the wheels red because there is a small amount of red on the trim of the car and the old caps had some red on them. [/img] I think they look too dark so I photoshopped the pic with the wheel painted white. I hate to paint but I think I like the white a lot better. What do you guys think? I wanted something that didn't make the Dodge's butt look big, but decided that was impossible.....Thanks, Tim [/img]
  20. Greg, I agree on the 5lb. fluctuation. If it fluctuates it is too low. By the way, I think your signature line says it all and I have taken to quoting it quite a bit lately.
  21. Congrats! Glad you enjoyed it and the car performed so well.
  22. I don't even think of it as running low anymore. It is just normal to pull the stick and see the level at that mark. Someday when and if I ever completely rebuild one of these things I will have to retrain myself to keep it full.
  23. When I got my car over 20 years ago my Dad told me to not be afraid to run it a quart low on oil. He told me he had several of these flatheads in the day and if he filled them to full on the dipstick they would use a quart very quickly but then use sparingly after that. Both my original 218 and current 230 hold true to that. I keep them just above the add mark and check it every time I drive it. It burns a little (gives a puff of blue when accelerating after coasting down hill), leaks a little too, but if I fill it to the full mark it uses it up quicker than if I keep it a quart low. Has worked for me all these years. If you try it you have to monitor your oil level closely because you won't have as much of a buffer before it goes low.
  24. I have no problem with the original driveshaft as far as performance. They are strong and durable. The issue to me is the maintenance on the dust boots and the cost of replacement ball and trunnion joints. On my car I made an adapter to make the shaft reach the new rear I installed. When my shaft needs repair next I think I will invest in a new shaft like Jim had made rather than spend the money on the old style joints and boots. Plus I can then get rid of my home-made adapter.
