  1. Here are some on eBay now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140181631312&ih=004&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=
  2. The cab looks like a 54 American Dodge with those one year badges under each headlights and the nearly flat windshield. Interesting bed with the rounded front corners.
  3. "i know tis forum is about cars...but we all are ALIVE and more complex than any p-15.! " OK...now I'm riled up !!!!! You left out all the D-24's
  4. Maybe if he had started with one of these it would have looked better.
  5. I like them minus the pin stripes. Just hunch down like the "Where's the beef" lady to see the traffic lights.
  6. A couple of years ago we were discussing these here. I found some and have listed them on eBay. Check out my other auctions while you are there. Thanks, Gramps http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120327346627&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=
  7. Same here. My wife and I voted about 10 days ago.
  8. OK, Thanks 40PLYM. Anybody else have one?
  9. I think that black stuff is actually some old type of caulk used to seal between the bezel and the glass. I've seen it on lots of old cars and trucks. The stuff is very dry and brittle now and is easily removed with a razor blade and then a Brillo pad with the gauge or speedo left in place.
  10. Thanks 40 Plym:)
  11. Sounds interesting. Can you pop the top and have a look inside at all the gears? I wonder if a 40 Plymouth trans is compatible with a 38 Dodge?
  12. I'm looking for a 3 speed floor shift transmission for my 38 Dodge coupe. I think they are all the same from 35-39 Dodge and Plymouth. Anybody here have a good used one here for sale? The existing one broke a tooth the other day while I was pulling away from a stop sign on a hill.
  13. I've been watching that one too. Maybe the guy would have more luck selling it if he said what size tow ball to bring and had a few more, and better, super sized photos cause his verbal description isn't real clear. It would be nice to know if it has a front or real axle under it. Lots of good parts there though. Maybe one of these days we'll be able to have it "Beamed Down"......to save on shipping costs.
  14. I have a 4 speed synchro in my 52 1/2 ton, a Chrysler 251, and a Ford 3.0 rear end with 15" rims and 29" tall radials. I rarely use 1st gear but it has come in handy for pulling a heavy load up a steep hill. This combo has worked great for me in my construction business. In the early 90's I had a 47 pickup with the same drive train except for a 3 speed floor shifter and a 241 long block. I only had a lack of pulling power once with this truck leaving a job site up a steep driveway with a full load. I had to unload some of the material to get up the hill without burning out the clutch. 3:55 or 3:25 rear gears would probably be a better choice with a 218 or 230 or at least a 4 speed synchro with granny low for those special times. Here's the 47 on the job back in '97.
  15. It's something really big that Ed Sullivan use to put on.
  16. http://www.newsday.com/news/opinion/ny-walt-babyboomers-blurb,0,1036393.blurb OK...it's funny anyway.
  17. Sounds high to me to. It'll probably be for sale for a long time in todays economic climate......or am I the only one suffering.
  18. Down to $2.889 today in Nor Cal. Gee....it's almost worth driving to Joplin for my next fill up.
  19. You are correct Merle. The 1/2 toners up until 55 came from the factory with 16" wheels with 4.5" drop centers. In 55 -58 they went to 15" and the same 4.5" drop centers. In 59 they went to 15" with a 5" drop center. My 52 1/2 ton came to me from the previous owner with 15" 4.5" drop center rims. I don't know if they are car or truck but they all have the hub cap clips. For almost 10 years I was running a P235 75R 15 radial and recently changed to a set of larger FEDERAL 30X9.50R15LT So far so good on the 4.5" wide rims. Do your 5.5" wide rims have the hub cap clips?
  20. Yes, Any 1/2 ton Dodge of similar vintage is 5 on 4.5
  21. Was the tube made of brass?
  22. I think 50's Dodge 3/4 ton rims will fit ford 1/2 tons. 5 on 5
  23. FRANKIE47, I took my glove box lid down and had the paint store match the color as close as possible to the inside of the lid where the sun didn't shine. The paint was Centari acrilic enamel. That was 10 years ago and the label has fallen off the can darn it or I'd give you the recipe. The paint has held up very well.
  24. OK...For the grill shell, I'm in Grass Valley,CA. 95949. I would need it shipped.
  25. I'd be interested in the grill shell.
