  1. Some more info on the 1 and 2 barrel carbs used on the straight 8's. Chrysler used the AAVS-2 2BBL. Strombergs on the 8's from 1941/2 to very early 1947 models and put out 5 more HP@140 horses. Early 1947 and up and all 1948 to 1950 chryslers used the Carter 1 BBL. carb nearly the same as on a P-15 Plymouths-bigger bore/jets and remote actuated automatic chokes. The 2 bore to 1 bore intake manifold adapter was used on the very early dual bore intake manifolds still being used on the 1947 Chrysler 8's until the end of 1948 models. Then the 1949 through 1950 intake manifolds were redesigned as a single bore to accept the carter 1 BBL. These engines were 135 HP. I have cars with both styles of carbs in my Chrysler 8 cylinder cars. Bob
  2. Glad I could help out! Bob
  3. Here's a pic of a 1946 chrysler 3 terminal block-maybe the same? Bob
  4. I made that tool as I have never been able to find them for both the short and long blocks. Bob
  5. This is what I use to remove even the most stubborn D-tubes. I use both a slide puller with a hook or usually just a crowbar to wedge the tube out. The tool inserts all the way to the end of the tube and has raised hooks/jaws to grab each slot in the D-tube so it pulls evenly on the full length of even a rotten tube for complete easy removal. Bob
  6. Thee was a long thread on the Sun testers a few months ago on the Hamb, about which model was the best ect. Good info to check out if you want one of these old test machines.
  7. The hood medallion is all plastic for 1952. 1951 are cloisenne.1952 dash has a plastic chrome dodge nameplate- 1951 nameplate is diecast chrome as I recall.
  8. Good engine machinists bore all the cyinders and hone each cylinder to each piston as the pistons do vary a small amount in size. And to really do a good job they will bolt a 1/2" torque plate fitted to the block (Deck Surface)and torque it to the head spec then hone the cylinders! Bob
  9. Kevin and Benny... Just a small correction, D41 is for both lower line models of wayfarer 2 doors and D42 is Meadowbrook and Coronet all models- Coronet being top of the line Dodge.I also have had a couple of the D41 3 passenger coupes. Pretty rare and really hard to find with rear window chrome! Bob
  10. Mr Plimouth are you around to answer our questions?
  11. The DU series 1 ton route vans use a standard 1 ton 6 lug nut rear end. The really odd ball rear ends are in the bigger 1-1/2 ton EU series 5 large lug nut vans. They use swing axle rear ends- kinda like in the corvettes! The EU uses a 1-1/2 ton rear end pumpkin. Bob
  12. Only on the exhaust.
  13. Is the problem during a coasting condition, Up hill down hill-on the flats? Well-If your shift linkage is tight and fully shifting the transmission shift lever into 2nd gear with no binding and the motor mounts are good and tight-engine not shifting and lastly you are not resting your heavy hand on the shift lever your issue probably would be a problem inside the trans- but check that the trans is bolted tight to the bell housing and carefully out all your linkage too. Bob
  14. 2 brasswater jacket core plugs are hidden behind bell housing
  15. I would have to say--Don't use Chine-eese parts. I think some engine failures are showing up because of these poor quality parts in the no name white boxes!!!! Bob
  16. That wiper motor appears to be a 1949-52 DeSoto Chrysler motor and proper for 1951-3 Dodge trucks originally equipped with electric wipers. The bracket is missing though. You could probably use a switch off a DeSoto or Chrysler but it wouldn't look like the dodge truck switch. Town Panel could probably help you.
  17. What a nice truck to restore!
  18. When the special key is lost-very common I always just used a thin screw driver jammed in one part of the triangle and un screw it-gotta use some muscle too. Done it many times. Bob
  19. 1946-8 Dodge DeSoto and Chrysler used twin electric screw shaft motor and gear box assemblies to raise /lower the tops. Also have a friend who's 39 Plym convertible uses those big vacuum cylinders to operate the top as on the P-15's. My 48 Chrysler convert uses those 2 springs on the top linkage too. I would measure them but cannot get to the car.Move 5 to get to it! Bob
  20. I've found a NOS Hemi pan-never have seen a NOS regular Flattie 6 truck pan. Thats gonna be a tough find. Like Don says and I agree hard to find a drip less 6 MoPar flat head 6. Straight 8's though are a drip less engine if built right!
  21. Wow-Long block too!
  22. Here ya go....
  23. Some of my trucks- 1 ton thru 4 ton.
  24. Thats a really nice old vise!
